No. This was not expected. Not in anything I’ve read. Everything I’ve read on the topic has assumed that if he tried to fire Comey that would be the end of it for him.
Allow you to refer you to my previous work:
Yeah, this is, for once, genuinely, “A Situation” for Wolf Blitzer’s Room. This is “Nixon fires the special prosecutor” big.
Holy blazing fuck! The trajectory of the shit has intersected the locus of the fan!
Like I said in the other thread, Comey is no longer useful to Trump. So, bye bye.
It needs to be “Nixon resigns” big.
Inch by inch. Step by step.
Peculiar thing about this document: it was never notarized.
Just gonna add this here. DSYoungEsq can go fuck a cactus for his transparent defense of Trump on this in the Elections thread. The main reason I still say Trump supporters are evil is that they constantly make excuses for Trump’s bad actions. And this front asshole wants to join them with an argument even a defense attorney would know wouldn’t actually fly.
Wow, that takes me back.
Jason “Tiny Face” Miller is on CNN defending the Short Fingered Shitstain.
Nixon resigned because Congressional Republicans pressured him to.
Congressional Republicans pressured him to because they were the minority party in both houses of Congress, which means they definitely couldn’t stop an impeachment in the House, and it would only require a few defectors to render them unable to stop a conviction in the Senate (since that requires 2/3, rather than a simple majority).
So given the choice between resignation on the one hand, and definite impeachment and quite possible (though probably less than 50% chance) conviction on the other, they decided to go with the least bad option and pressure Nixon to get out.
No such pressure exists on Congressional Republicans now.
As some said - “inch by inch”. It’s too soon for hope, but maybe not too soon for an evil smirk.
Ha! I love it.
Ivanka is a notary. And she totally read it!
Countdown to President Pence…
Thank you, Mister Sunshine.
I’m sure Pence has had his VP in mind for some time now. Just in case Pence doesn’t come out smelling like a rose, that VP might be the next Gerald Ford. Pardon all 'round!
Pence was in charge of the transition team that would have vetted Michael Flynn and who apparently didn’t notice everyone playing footsie with Sergey Kislyak. He’s in this, too.
Good point. Who’s next in succession, Mitch McConnell?
