Apology accepted for what it’s worth, Lib: it gets me back to not quite where I was last week, before you called me Satan. That is, I still don’t expect much of you, and so can’t really be disappointed by you unless you go totally over the top.
As for your illusion that I was your friend, I’m afraid I’m going to have to deny responsibility for that. Although you may be a nice person off the boards (and given the defense you sometimes get from folks that know you personally, you must be a friggin’ saint off the boards), your on-board behavior is too regularly dishonest, self-centered, and just plain mean. While I could put up with one of those things in a friend, all three is just too much of a bad thing. I don’t think I’ve ever deceived you about any of that.
If you change, I might find you more respectable, and maybe even likeable; but I don’t expect you to, especially with your bizarre, positive-feedback attitude that you owe no politeness toward people that don’t like you. So like I said, I just don’t take you seriously.

If I understand you correctly, Daniel, you find me to be dishonest, self-centered, and mean, you do not take me seriously, and you have expected nothing more of me all this time. I’m left only to wonder then about the motives behind your expressions of concern about my mental health and your inquiries as to how you could assist me. I can scarcely conceive a thing so dishonest, self-centered, and mean as to lull a man into the comfort of believing that you care, only to unleash upon him the surprise that his trust was unrequited, that you never took him seriously, and that he is likely unredeemable in any case. Well, I can take a joke, so good one. Do I ever have egg on my face. 
If you’ll go back and look at my specific posts, you should have no cause to wonder. I’ve never been less than entirely straightforward, and it is (unsurprisingly) dishonest of you to pretend otherwise.
Like I said: I’ve no reason to expect better of you.

I would have no expectations whatsoever of a man whom I did not take seriously, neither high nor low nor anything between. In fact, I would not even communicate with a man whom I sincerely believed to be dishonest. And if I found him to be unredeemable, I wouldn’t feign concern about him and offer him my help. And the very last thing I would do is drag him through it all again in some bizarre review ritual. You don’t care. I get it. Anything else?
Given Lib’s recent postings (particularly with the recent addition of the Bobby Fischer material, which is almost unbelievable), I’ve got to say that I find Polycarp’s “assurance” downright scary.
Oh, Early Out, there’s no need to be coy. You’ve never pretended to have any stance other than contempt for me. I can respect that. Don’t wimp out on me now.
Now, I ain’t tryin’ to pick a fight or nothing, LHoD . . .
But I think an argument can be made that since Lib did not, in fact, call you Satan, your assertion that he did could be perceived as dishonest and self-centered.
I don’t perceive it that way, mind you. But I think it might serve as another reminder that we all have our own biases, our own spin, and our own perceptions, and these color both our own posts and our reading of others’.
Oh, please. It could be perceived that way, but not reasonably so. My first post in this thread quoted him as saying, “like Satan.” A link later appeared to the post in question. Any reasonable person will understand what I was saying.
I can’t be responsible for the ways in which a theoretical unreasonable person might misinterpret what I said.
I recognize that I’ve got my own bias and my own spin. I’m not complaining about anyone’s bias or spin.
If you honestly think that I’m misrepresenting someone–if you DO really perceive me as being dishonest–please let me know, and I’ll try to rectify the situation.

At least he’s not a one-trick pony.
I’d rather be reading posts from Lib at his worst than from Reeder or milroyj on what passes for a good day with them.
