In Soviet Russia, Mafia plays you! (Forbidden Thread for Glasnost Mafia -- No Players!)

Hm? Neither I nor Drain have spoileriffic information (as of yet).

The antecedent of your question to Drain has information I was not aware of.

Hm? Do you mean Red’s post, or do you mean that my post pre-supposes some information you don’t have? I don’t see either. (The fact that Drain tried to blow me up is in my death reveal).

Oh, so it was. That’s what happens when I only read the alignment reveal.

I was actually kind of hoping Drain would flip Town so I could ask Mental wtf he was thinking later.

Thought the Scum was unlikely to kill you if you were Town (ha!) and that Mental was going to be jailed (and was likely Scum). Scum, if they’re smart, will look at the MentalGuy doubters to find the jailer. Likely they thought he was Scum too and figured it wouldn’t help to jail him.

I actually had a different player targeted and changed my mind halfway through the night because I was too worried that the Scum would target him too. Funny how that worked out.

BTW, a red flag that nobody else seems to have noticed, and which I had temporarily forgotten about in the excitement over Drain:

Quoth peeker, after seeing Tom Scud’s reveal:

Waking up to a single dead vanilla is a pretty darned good Night for Town. In fact, it’s pretty close to a best-case scenario (no-kill is obviously better, but that only happens about once a game, at most). I have a hard time seeing a Townie seeing that, and immediately looking for a silver lining in it (the “silver lining” that peeker saw is really just icing on the cake). In short, one shouldn’t be sorry to lose a vanilla Townie, because that’s a good outcome.

Well maybe except he didnt say “vanilla townie” he just said “townie” so I don’t think I would count that as a slip.

But still, losing a Townie every night is a fundamental part of the game, not really something to be sorry to see.

Yeah, but it’s kind of tacky to go “woo-hoo! Tom’s dead and he’s vanilla! I never liked him anyway”

ETA I suspect if you go back to earlier games and look at one-vanilla-death nights, there’s a fair amount of Town players saying “oh bummer” even though it’s close to the best possible result.

I find it best to not comment on the results of lynches or Night actions. Either you get accused of showing scummy emotion or of trying to look townie.

I agree completely, despite in reality usually defaulting to saying something low-key regardless of outcome and alignment.

After I posted that it was pretty much the best possible result, I was thinking “Oh, shit. That’s not true. Technically the best possible result would have been if they’d killed ME.”

The best possible result would have been for them to have killed you after you’d targeted a scum for demolition.

ETA … hm… Demolished Man mafia… no way I could pull off the flavor text, though.

I’ve retooled my SS Insipid rules set. I’ve toned down the special roles and made the Brig more useful to the town. And it’ll be open except for the role distribution. (PM me if you want to preview the rules.) I’ve balanced it for 16 players. Do you think there’ll be enough interest in a new, smallish game if I started gathering players on Monday? Or, should I wait another week?

I’d prefer if you didn’t start it right away, because I’d like to play in that, but my plate’s a bit full at the moment. But even aside from that, I don’t think that we can really support two Mafia games at once on this board: Your player list would end up being dominated by people who are only kinda sorta interested in playing, or who are playing in too many games at once, and who would therefore not participate enough to make for a good game.

I’ll wait at least another week then.

I think we can support a smaller game, played out-of-phase with the bigger games. After all, by the time the big game is half done, half the players are already out of it. I would discourage players in the other game from joining, anyway.

I would play, Pleo. Maybe I don’t get lynched day one this time

Jailer’s having a good game. Hell, the jailer has already had a good game, I’d say, even if (s)he doesn’t accomplish anything for the rest of the game.

They’re currently ignoring a possibility. The Scum could have successfully recruited Suburban Plankton after his unforced vanilla claim, then gotten a Scummy Idle (perhaps the GF?) to say he got the message.
