In Soviet Russia, Mafia plays you! (Forbidden Thread for Glasnost Mafia -- No Players!)

sach’s plan gives me mixed emotions. I like bold plans so I’d like to see this one succeed. But being scum this game means it’s better for me personally if it fails.

I guess it also depends on whether the scum have successfully awakened their sleeper. If not, they could claim Doc and then consider not recruiting for a while.

Sach’s secondary plan makes that more difficult if it is pulled off.

With splits like this, you want the Scum to be in roughly the same proportion as the genuine Town, so I agree, I’d have one (or maybe two, but no more) Scum claim power, and the rest (including the Godfather) claim vanilla. As for which power, the Jailer is one obvious choice, since he’s the most vulnerable and has also been a thorn in their side, and Doctor could also be a good one if there isn’t actually one to counterclaim.

Although, really, at this point, I’d be pinning more hope on trying to disrupt the plan than on working through it. At least one Scum should be fighting it in every way possible.

Anyone have any idea who’s leading the voting? I think it’s Septimus, but honestly I have no idea. (One problem with Sach’s plan is the discussion has totally drowned out the case-making).

Maha has NOT clearly specified a target, with about 5 minutes to go.

I don’t know, he seemed to me to be pretty clearly indicating pedescribe. He did the large font and everything.

I guess so. Would it have killed him to have typed “I think the vig and doctor should both target Pedescribe”?

BTW, welcome to the thread, Septimus. That probably would have been me if the scum hadn’t killed me.

Hi Tom. Was the Night-Kill a surprise?

I play partly in the hope of improving my communication skill level from horrid to mediocre. Progress is slow. :smack:

I’ve a spoilage request in but not yet confirmed. I’m guessing scum include special ed and likely one of {Astral, Gadarene, peekercpa}. Your guesses?

I’ve certainly got my suspicions of ed, but it’s hard to disentangle that from the general antagonism I always seem to feel towards him. And peeker I’ve never been able to get a good read on.

I thought the night-kill of me was a huge surprise (and relief); I would have looked horrible in a vote analysis because I jumped onto the Pleo bandwagon late after pushing the “damn guys I don’t see anything actually scummy (as opposed to annoying) about Pleo’s play” line, then jumped back off when a plausible alternative emerged.

I think Gadarene is Town, because he was a bit TOO blatant in pushing for a Mental Guy lynch; Astral is probably scum. Don’t know about ed.

Well, good job while it lasted, Wolverine. On the bright side, the lack of a Vig death (probably) means that there’s a Doctor, which both adds one more confirmable (which, I think, balances the fact that it also means one more Scum) and means that Mental can now investigate with impunity until the Doctor is found.

It’s of great value to Town for the Doctor to remain hidden, with the Detective out and confirmed, and there are still plenty of claimed vanilla for the Vig to target, so it might be a wise idea to put further claims on hold for the time being.

One other implication, though: The Scum can obviously now not claim Jailer. It looks like they don’t have any “safe” claims until the Vig is dead, which might mean this is the best time to do the claim, after all. Hmm.

Thanks. I was afraid my plea to the jailer on Day 2 would have found me out earlier, but at least I got them to waste a Night Kill on Night 2. If the mass claim had gone down on Day 3, I expected to die Night 3 anyways. I’m pretty sure I would have stuck out like a sore thumb to scum.

Now I get to participate in this thread. My first two games (International and Hotel of Heroes) I made it close to the end and barely got to post.

How does the Town deal with scum claiming Doctor without getting the real Doctor killed? Or is trading scum for doctor good enough for Town that it doesn’t matter?

It’s a tough situation to be in. Typically it ends up with a counter-claim by the real doctor. Then it becomes a one for one trade which is beneficial to the town, even losing the Doctor.

I went back and checked, and unless there’s a general “doctors never can protect themselves” rule, without their role-blocker gone the best the scum can do with an outed doctor is a WIFOM situation. That’s pretty bad for the scum then.

I think someone in the thread already pointed this one out, but if there’s a doctor counterclaim, Town can easily sort out which one is which, without accidentally killing the real one, by telling them both to self-protect, and for the Vig to target one. If he targets the poser (who wasn’t actually self-protecting, of course), well and good, and if he targets the real one, no harm done beyond wasting a Night of the Vig’s power, and the other one can be lynched or vigged.

The other harm that would be done is that the scum would know that they had a free shot at Mental.

Nicely played, Wolverine.
