Okay I’m a little foggy, but here’s my shot -
Julia wakes up and Ed harris hands her a string. She pulls on it and the ring slides down the string to her hand.

Ed Harris turns to Julia and says, “Don’t worry, your contract guarantees that you and Susan will exactly the same amount of screen time, to the very second.”
It was a thread all across the house and he tied it to her finger and the ring was on it, then he blah-de-blahed what WOULD have been a beautiful speech IF it weren’t rendered absolutely meaningless by his marital status w/ Sarandon’s character and it was really freaking annoying. Everything he said would have been true, but coming from him it meant nothing at all.
But then any movie where Julia Roberts has to tell Susan Sarandon she’s GOD isn’t bound to be the best in the world, eh?
