Looks like Boll’s trimmed down his initially-envisioned running time of three hours to a mere 2-1/2 hours of suck.
The latest trailer is hilariously bad. A “normal guy” is out there kung-fu sword-fighting armies and wizards in slow motion, without even a shred of armor. Meanwhile, Boll is trying so hard to capture the epic scale of Lord of the Rings, and is bound to fail miserably.
While I agree that this movie could be genuinely hilarious if seen with friends on cable, it can only be sheer, embarassing agony if you actually fork over money for it.
Actually, that’ll probably be the first Boll movie I’ll skip. Mocking a bad comedy is never that amusing; the very definition of a bad comedy is that it isn’t funny. I have no desire to watch a bunch of poorly executed over-the-top slapstick and horrifically delivered one-liners.
Ooooh! I didn’t know Boll actually did commentary on the DVD. Now I have to get it.
And for my recommendation Alone in the Dark is one of the schlockiest films I’ve ever seen (this is coming from someone who has seen all of the episodes of MST3k). It’s a must watch for anyone who is curious about how terrible film making can get.
Nah. You could really tell that Ed Wood loved movies and loved making them. Also, ineptly as it was executed “Glen or Glenda?” was immensely personal and risky, something you can’t say about anything Boll’s done.
Didn’t see this, and I have no intention of pissing away my money on this, but I like my local paper’s capsule review. It said something along the lines of:
I don’t disagree that his films are bad, but he’s managed to get darn near every one into a theatre instead of straight to video, which is where most crap goes- how does that happen?
