In the year 2050...

will there be any remaining questions which aren’t immediately answered with the line “this has been discussed before”, and a link to the appropriate thread? (Other than contemporary things like “What about those 2048 Cowboys?”)

Yes.

what an appropriate first responder.

this has been discussed before, look here http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/ .

In the year 2050, if man still is nifty, if woman can be thrifty, they may find…

Well, it would be nice to think we are at the beginning of a compilation of all human knowledge. I mean, just think how much money the Chicago Reader could make if they advertised that they could get the answer to every question in the world. 49 more years… just boggles the mind to think how much will have been discussed by then.

More specifically, this has been discussed here.

Just think about how many questions that are asked are about things that have happened in the last 50 years. I suppose there will be new questions that spring up in the upcoming 50 years, like “Was the inventor if Qiznool really trying to create an anti-gravity force field?” and “We all know that trichlons travel faster than the speed of light. Can anything travel faster than a trichlon?”

Great Scott, circular links are not cute!
A more intriguing question might be, what format will this discussion take place in? Remember, fifty years ago a message board, even personal computing, was scarcely dreamed of, at least in this manner. It was Science Fiction.

This is not a General Question. May I suggest MPSIMS?

Nazi. It IS a general question.

  1. Big mistake on the Nazi thing
  2. General questions have factual answers
  3. Big mistake on the Nazi thing
  4. I’d be very surprised to see this board going in 2050.
  5. Big mistake on the Nazi thing
  6. Debates on current events/politics will always be available.
  7. Do you even know what a Nazi is?

You’re so right, I apologise about the ‘Nazi’ thing. I was upset about my thread being deemed ‘mundane’ and ‘pointless’, but that’s no excuse.

Sorry.

This question does have a factual answer. It’s just no one that can be known yet.

Don’t worry, MPSIMS is for more than just the mundane and pointless.
