I am a guy, and I know from first hand knowledge that some girls smell…worse…than others down there. By worse, I don’t mean that its something that I hate all around. The feminine smell is certainly an aquired taste, but there are some cases when it is less than pleasant.
I was talkign to a female friend of mine once and she mentioned that its like that with some guys too. I am circumsized, so maybe that has something to do with that. Whe was European, so most guys there aren’t cut. But according to her, a guy can shower in the morning and get to be foul smelling by night. Or maybe she just doesn’t know if the guy showered in the morning. Wesley Clark wondered aloud today if maybe his semen had a particularly pungent odor. I have never had a problem with my semen causing odor problems so this seems to be possibly related.
So girly girls… What’s the Straight dope on guys. Do some of us just smell bad? I think I don’t, and have never been told so, so I didn’t know that it could be a problem, but I would like to know if it indeed exists.
Your friend is quite right. Some men just have a funk about them. Sometimes caused by improper washing, but some people are just stinky by nature. I’m surprised at how seldom people seem to tell others that they stink. It’s usually reserved for when they leave the room. Some girls are stinky too, for the same reasons.

Again, after the semen tree pit thread, I’m being reminded of the one guy I had been with who had exceptionally funky spunk. I was too wussy to mention it to him. I also thought he had to know that his emissions were stinky. But maybe he didn’t.
It’s a dark, warm, and moist place, even for guys, so of course it’s going to have an aroma of sorts. Not to go into too much detail but I’m a guy and I know I have a scent at times as well.
I agree that smell can definitely vary between girls. It would be pretty logical for it to vary a lot between guys, too.
I don’t think I smell bad either–the first girl to give me head kept complimenting me on how good I smelled and tasted down there. Wow. OK. Thanks. I might smell worse here than I did back in California because of the weather differences (more sweat); I’m not sure. Don’t remember what my last GF (the only girl I’ve been intimate with since I moved here) said about it, if anything.

So the next time I was uh “taking care of bussiness” I purposely took a little bit and tried to take a good whiff to see if there was any smell. I didn’t smell nothing. Is it possible some guys don’t have an odor?

Well, there’s two different smells that men have related to the genitals. There’s a musky skin odor that’s present all the time, and grows stronger when he’s aroused, and then there’s the smell of the semen itself. Both smells have associated tastes.
IMHO, the worst tasting/smelling offenders are guys who drink too much cola. Seriously. One of my exes worked for a beverage company, and drank lots and lots of cola. His semen literally burned my throat, making it raw for several days afterward. I’ve had three other partners infamous for their cola consumption - all of them had the bad tasting, burning semen. None of the little-cola or no-cola drinkers did. It’s noticable enough for me that if I see a guy drinking cola, I refuse to swallow. Other than that, I haven’t noticed a pattern. Some people say vegetarians taste less strong, and that been generally true, but there have been a couple of omnivores who were yummy. One of my favorites actually has slightly sweet semen (omnivore).
As for women, not only is the smell and taste different in different women, but it’s different for each woman at different points of her cycle. My husband can’t get enough of me when I’m fertile, he says the smell and taste is just heavenly. Post ovulation, he doesn’t like it as much, although he says it’s not offensive, it’s just not as yummy. Two or three days before my period, I know I’m getting nothin’ oral, as it gets pretty rank down there. Even I don’t like it then. He’s noticed similar patterns with other women.
So if you really like how she tastes, make sure you’re using protection - chances are she’s a fertile lady tonight!
WhyNot beat me to it. As a girl with girly bits, I can tell you that the odour du jour changes frequently. I haven’t found a particular pattern with diet but it wouldn’t surprise me.
