Yeah, that worked out so well last time you tried it…
I made the mistake of reading the linked thread about kiddie porn and rape.
My eyes feel dirty.
Thanks. Technical point though – I’m male. Had the nickname since birth from my parents.
 :o Well, if it makes you feel any better I get mistaken for male, even with my location feild.
I second that.
I’m not one to judge anyone but SBSO you so strike me as a troll. It is tough to tell you as many think I’m one as well. Perhaps you have motivations that the masses don’t realize but “Bloody ell” man" you sure come up with some strange shit to talk about. OM
Are we allowed to call troll on this forum?
If so, mister (miss) shop owner guy (gal) has most of the characteristics of one. Seriously, who other than a troll claims that anyone who doesn’t want to nail a 14 year old girl isn’t a “real man”.
I’d say a real man is more likely to find a real woman attractive, but hey, that’s just me.
No, I agree 100%. He’s a troll. And I don’t think he is who he claims to be. I expect a banning fairly soon, but I have been wrong before.
I kind of like Muffin, but here’s the real point point of difference- Muffin is a Board Citizen. He contributes. All SBSO “contributes” is crap, like a pigeon or a seagull. Well, not quite- at least *those *“contributions” can be used as fertilizer.
We have? :dubious:
Dear God, ladies and gents, stand back! Don’t look too closely on him, lest the brilliant shining of his countenance blind your eyes!
This man knows Latin!
The first mistake of oh so many people here and elsewhere is believing that they are far, far cleverer than anyone else around. Some people realize that they might learn something by listening to those not awfully clever people. They might even realize that there are people smarter than them (I know your mum told you this was impossible, but just bear with me) in the world.
Lots of people never get that, though. It becomes easier for them to surround themselves with fools so they can continue to believe they are brilliant.
Personally, I prefer surrounding myself with people cleverer than I am so I can learn from them. But hey, different strokes. If you want to surround yourself with clever people so you can dance for them like a monkey, be my guest.
Not to wade in, but I heard my name . . . .
Muffin, I appreciate your defense, but I think John Mace is right: If you flat-out call someone a troll, you can’t expect a polite response. You also must consider the source, so be assured his response to me didn’t phase me in the least.
I called him a troll because I’m convinced he’s a troll. I posted that opinion not to generate some kind of pile-on, but because my response to posers is always “Pretend to be whatever the hell you want, but don’t ever act like you and I don’t know that you’re full of shit.” I think I’ve made that clear, so I really have no further interest in engaging him, since, like every other troll, that’s what he wants.
Thanks for the kind thoughts, though.
Sure intimidated the crap out of me. It’s not like I studied Latin since grade five and at university, and taught logic and rhetoric at university.
Err, wait a minute . . .
I wasn’t going to get involved in this…I thought some of the accusations against SBSO were accurate, some not so much. I wanted to repost the thing Muffin linked to though:
:dubious: From here.
That bothered me more than the whole rape/child porn thing, which I pretty much ignored.
While I’m here, I also thought the Cafe Society thing was pretty annoying. Yeah, that’s what I always do when I enter a new group of people: insult the things they do. But isn’t that a fairly typical newbie thing to do?
Other than that, I have no comment on SBSO.
SBSO has a kanji tattoo?

SBSO comes off as kinda dick-ish to me. I’m not sure what it is exactly, just… dick-ish.
The question is whether he knows it or not, and whether it’s on purpose.
Troll.
I think you have to make a distinction between cases like the above, which is posting confrontational statements intended to get a rise out of people (and thereby generate numerous responses). This is trolling, and, according to Cecil, the word alludes not only to the ugly monsters that live under bridges, but also to a kind of fishing in which you try to catch as many fish as possible with many hooks on one long line.
If we couldn’t discuss controversial topics, they’d have to shut GD down.
My objection is not the idea of having a fifty fifty representation in government per se, but with what that necessarily represents: either positive discrimination or a deficiency in national character.
Why is electing a lot of women a “deficiency in national character”?
