Sorry, can’t do that, sadly. It seems to me that the rates are proportionally less, what with the greater acceptance and lesser rates of overall violence, but it does exist and it takes lives.

Update: Friend is okay. Nothing broken other than skin. He is pressing charges! The state has already subpoenaed the original scumbucket’s ISP for his name and address. The scumbucket had closed the account either immediately before or immediately after the attack.
Once they find him, it’s likely that they’ll get the others. There is no honor among scum, after all. He’ll cave and implicate the rest of them. Oh, and the state troopers are checking emergency rooms in the area to find the woman, since it’s likely that she had to go get taken care of as well.
I’m so happy that he decided to press charges! I was afraid he wouldn’t.
Oh, and I conveyed your encouragement to him, too. He told me to thank you all.

I’m relieved your friend did not suffer any more serious physical wounds and I’m thrilled he is pressing charges and I’m glad he apparently has the support network of people who care that make that possible for him to do.

Update: The state trooper investigating the incident went into my friend’s work the other day to have him sign a release for his medical information (presumably for use as evidence in court), and told him that they had the names of all five attackers and would be “inviting them in” for questioning in the next week.
All the guys were skinheads, at least one with a criminal record as long as the baseball bat he was using.
The girl is 15. Two days before the trooper talked to my friend she’d been arrested for attacking another girl in the head with a hammer. The trooper had also arrested her before this, several times. They’re going to try to get her tried as an adult.
So they know who they are. They know where they are. Let the festivities begin…

As to the reference by others about PA being a “redneck haven”: Well, I grew up in West Virginia. Inbreeding and ignorance seemed to be the state’s primary activities. Moved out to Washington in 1983. Rednecks abound out here, even in the Seattle area where I live. It may not be as above-board, but there is still the same appalling *shit]/i] going on towards “others.” I guess my Dad was right when he told me, “Human stupidity is the only infinitely renewable resource in the universe.” People of good will can help alleviate this.
