I’m driving down the highway, listening to NPR when my eye is caught by a trash truck on the exit ramp. There is something colorful painted on its beige side. As the truck turns, I stare more intently…it’s a painting of some sort… it’s… it’s… of my gosh, it’s Monet’s “Waterlilies”! Painted on the side of a trash truck!
That’s when I hear horns honking and realize I have drifted out of my lane and have almost taken out a couple of morning commuters. I swerve back into my lane, but now I’m past the exit and can’t see the truck anymore. I am puzzled, shook up by my near miss and very confused. Great Art on trash trucks. I can’t decide if this is a Good Thing, or a Very Bad Thing. But I’m glad to be alive, and since Art should make you feel that way, maybe it accomplished its purpose!
