sugar free Lipton green tea tastes a lot better than the regular version.
I just discovered this with grape juice. After not having had sugary fruit juice other than OJ in years, I got a “light” grape juice and it’s amazing, not at all like the over-tart and sweet monstrosity usually available.
I started decreasing the sugar in my Cranberry Sauce. A little less each year for the last decade as people kept saying “I like the tartness!” So I’m using less than half now.
And I get funny looks when I order Coke Zero with Jameson at the local tavern, but I prefer it to a regular Scotch & Coke.
I don’t care for skim milk, but 2% is better than whole. Even though whole is supposedly healthier.
Jax used to make a lite version of their cheese curls. They were awesome. But they stopped selling them years ago

Harking back to the 60’s, anything with cyclamate, Funny Face and Kool-Aid were so much more awesome without sugar!
Cape Cod Low Fat chips
One pink sweetner and one yellow sweetner in my coffee is better than sugar. However, it must have light cream or, in a pinch, half and half.
And half and half is a lighter option. It’s “obviously” half cream, half milk. I didn’t realize this until I ordered coffee in the UK for the first time:
“Do you have cream?”
*“Oi, guvnah, we gots cream, but yer sure as horses not gonna be puttin’ in yer coffee!” [broad cockney chortling ensues]
*“Umm, I just wanted it ummm, milky?”
*“Ah’ll jes’ steam yuh some fresh milk, fold it inta yer cuppa, and Bob’s your uncle!”
*“How’d you know about my Uncle Bob?” [and…scene]
Other than the bad accent, it’s a true story.
Low sugar gatorade (G2). I can’t drink the regular stuff, tastes like Kool-aid.
Absolutely true about the iced tea.
I never liked the taste of diet soda, and I stopped drinking all sodas 16 years ago, so I can’t judge that.
Mission Carb Balance tortillas are better than regular flour tortillas–more flavorful and less cloying.
I, too, prefer diet soda to the sugared version. I would never have thought that as a teenager, when I thought diet sodas were the most disgusting drink ever created by man, but, for the last twenty years, I prefer the dry aftertaste to the cloying sweetnenss of sugared drinks. Yes, even the ones made with actual cane sugar. They are all just so sticky and syrupy to me.
Skim milk is awful, though. I don’t drink much milk, so it doesn’t matter, but it has to be at least 2%, preferably whole.
I heartily agree. Even if avoiding sugar wasn’t a goal, the sugar free version is the obvious choice due to the fact it doesn’t have the cloying taste of the regular version.
G2 is hard to find in my town. Store manager I complained to said that due to the high % of college students here, only the sugary stuff sells.
Gotta stock up when I find it. It’s the best thing for dehydration (hangovers, but also just “didn’t pay attention and drink enough yesterday, so woke up with a headache today”).
I don’t know if my tastes are changing, or if sugar is “sweeter” today or not. I used to like iced tea sweetened, but anymore I’ll drink it plain. Recently, a friend brought some food to a get together a few of us were having. Among the stuff he brought was Chick Fil A iced tea, which he raves about and insisted we try. My first gulp, and I was like…GACKKKK! It was like sugar-water with brown coloring. Couldn’t taste any tea.
You can get an 8 pack on Amazon for $5.38.
It’s 2019. How can something like that be “hard to find” anymore.
