I’m hoping we see more faces like these: White People Mourning Romney: Photo
John Boehner’s total and utter failure of leadership during this entire crisis has been beyond belief. I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He essentially put the country on the chopping block in order to save his own pathetic skin.
And it’s bizarre orange skin at that.
I hate to piss in the punch bowl here, but… it’s just the Senate. The Senate was never crazy. Now, if the House can reach a deal, then we can get some kegs and a D.J. However, I think this block party is a bit premature.
edited to add: ninja’d a bit by Jonathon Chance
The House is going to vote on the Senate bill tonight, and it’s going to pass.
But what Mr. and Mrs. America really want to know is: Will the Smithsonian National Zoo Panda Cam go back online tomorrow?
Which was going to be toast anyway; he should have told the Tea Party minority to pound sand from the git-go.
I see 3 scenarios, and he doesn’t get to stay Speaker in any one of them.
Even before this clusterfuck, he was seen as ineffective and unable to control his caucus. If the House keeps the status quo in the next elections, they’re not going to vote him back in.
If, gods forbid, the Tea Party wins big, they’re going to vote in one of their own.
And in the optimal outcome, where the Dems win, well…duh!
Why should “Mr. and Mrs. America” want to pay for the room and board of Chinese Nationals?
I thought so, too- but maybe not. Tea Party guys like Labrador are saying Boehner stuck with them in this fight (which he did) and the moderates betrayed them, so maybe he gets to stick around as the the gutless speaker of a confused and angry caucus that’s dominated by a few dozens maniacs. Who wouldn’t want that job?
Wins the thread.
Wins the thread.

I just wanted to add the sequential-thread-ness of In Your Face Radical Right Happy Dance Gloating Thread and Goddammit Holy Shit A Jalapeño Burned My Dick.
In that scenario, I think that somehow the Republican caucus manages to be both the jalapeno and the dick.
Boehner: “There is no reason to vote ‘no’ at this time.”
Random Teabagger: “We’re voting ‘no’ anyway.”
Heard on AP Radio News.
I think it is going to be very entertaining to watch the complete wacko rabid Teahadists try to replace those who “couldn’t get it done” with candidates who are even more extremist.
Edit: I look forward to the first Walmartian Hoverround candidate, who completely fails to understand that Medicare and Social Security are socialist government programs.
If the Tea Party doesn’t win a majority, why would they want a Speaker who can control them? Isn’t a weak Speaker the next best thing to a Tea Party Speaker?
I think Boehner stays.
I am so grateful the ten year old is not reading over my shoulders. I would never get my computer back after she learned of the existence of the panda cam.
Favorite joke of the shutdown:
*Day Three of the Shutdown. No longer feel the need to pronounce Boehner correctly. *
What did you think would happen? Gloat all you want but this changes nothing.
Thank you, Buzz Killington.
Perhaps you’d like to piss in his coffee, while you’re at it?
Considering Republicans wanted to change Obamacare, I consider this a good thing.
