The “signing” along with the pledge.
Oh. “Sucked” is pretty strong, but whatever. <shrug>
Great explanation of the turning and saluting, thanks!
That was my one annoyance in the whole thing. I tuned in at noon (the first time I’ve ever watched an inauguration) to learn that he had already been sworn in. Booo!
Amanda Gorman’s reading was hit and miss but wow the hits were grand slams. What a credit she is to the younger generation. According to an article I read the Biden administration put no limits on her poem; it was all her.
She’s a Fire Captain, not a professional translator.
I’m aware: that’s why she had no business doing that. Especially since DC has one of the biggest Deaf populations in the country. Plenty of people who could have done it beautifully.

Here comes Howard university!
Was that taken during today’s events? If so, wow!

I don’t know how Biden could have played any other card besides healing and unity. But knowing that Republicans in the past 2 weeks have been relentlessly on-message about “accountability ruins healing and unity”, this seems like kind of a clueless and tone-deaf trap to walk into.
I don’t think this bodes well for those of us who want to see accountability for the past 4 years of callow lawlessness.
