Garth Brooks. k.
That IS the whole point! Don’t you get it??
Tears again and I’m not even faithful.
Nope.
Amen!
I guess. But without Guthrie’s words, all of them, it’s just a catchy tune.
These words in particular would have been quite meaningful today:
In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I’d seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?
But not what you’re going to hear at the inauguration of a mildly liberal centrist, I guess (about which I am truly happy - don’t get me wrong).
Now, if Bernie had been elected…
I bet many people there were wishing they could wear a hat, too. Lotta squinting going on.
Oh. He took it off.
But on the other side, it didn’t say nothing –
Nope, no political party’s going to sing that part.
Guthrie didn’t intend to trash the place, though.
From this outsider, sincere congratulations, thank you so much, and what a relief!
A nation that isn’t broken but only unfinished –
I can see the right wing memes coming now- Biden isn’t officially president because he got sworn in over 10 minutes early.
Holy Cow. I love Amanda Gorman.
I think the person who introduced Amanda Gorman said she was “The first National Poet Laureate” but she was actually the first “National Youth Poet Laureate”, in 2017. She’s 23 years old, apparently also the youngest person to speak at an inauguration.
Her hands are poetic.
Apparently it was a dove and olive branch and not a Hunger Games mocking-jay that Lady Gaga wore.
Brian
She was great!
Thanks! I missed that.
Will play it later on today –
There’s your passion for the day. She says she wants to run for President come 2036.
“Second Gentleman”
Love it
