I have no idea if this is unusual or not. I admit to never paying so much attention to an inauguration before in my life!!
May he be right.
But he is right: this isn’t new. It’s another round of the same old battle. It needs to be fought now, and it’ll need to be fought again. But right now: the ramparts are holding.
He knows what he’s worth.
I know, talking about Americans and what he, his administration and government in general can do for them, instead of making everything about him. What a concept!
Big sigh of relief. It’s ridiculous how good it feels to know I don’t have to check the news 6 times a day to find out if we’re at war with Iran or not, to find out if the children locked in cages will be allowed soap or not, to find out which 80’s era has-been is crafting our foreign policy, or to find out if we are leaving the WTO, WHO, NATO, or the UN… I feel like I can relax, at long last.
So to all of you out there who, like me, have stress-triggered migraines, we get to be normal again!

He’s not saying one thing that is controversial or radical, and yet the righties will find all kinds of fault with it. Scouring it for hidden, threatening messages.
And as I was typing that, I managed to tune out what President Biden was saying. Holy shit, it feels good to be able to safely do that again!

I’ve watched a number of inaugurations and looked over canvassed vote totals, but never have I paid much attention the EC votes in the various capitals, nor the delivery of said ballots, and the certification in Congress like I did this cycle.
Goddam Trump.
He recognized, by name, the Presidents who preceded him - omitting Trump.
And to not see that stupid hateful orange face on the news every day. I hope the only time we hear trump’s name in the news going forward, it will be “and now, in the latest ‘The People vs. trump’ case…”
Wonder what w bush will say about this speech. He had the best quote of the last inaugural.

I’m sure it will be the usual empty platitudes all politicians use.
Biden’s speech is wholly unremarkable and unmemorable. It’s not bad. It’s ok but no one will remember or quote this speech. It is only good in contrast to Trump who was so awful we are happy to hear almost anything else. Compare it to Obama’s inauguration speech to see the difference.
