We have at least one doc who knows what he’s doing, since we had two kills before the vig died and two kills afterwards.
Things I wish I knew:
Why did Nanook lie and say he was a serial killer? Or was he telling the truth (and did he have incentive not to do so?) and the reveals are inaccurate?
Related to 1), does the fact that Mahaloth is supposedly a scum goon in the reveal indicate a) that he was actually a scum goon or b) that the mods are screwing with us.
Also, pending an explanation from ColdPhoenix, his comment sounds an awful lot like “I’m happy the doc lied about being an SK and then got lynched!” vote ColdPhoenix.
I think Nanook lying about being SK is particularly odd. If he was really pissed at us for lynching us (b/c he had been genuinely busy off board) wouldn’t he say I’m the Town Doc, so killing me makes no sense? (I.e., don’t lynch me toDay and then toNight, I can self protect.) Granted we might not have believed but it’s a lot smarter than “I’m the SK.” Who’s going to say, “Oh, well, all right then, let’s NOT lynch the SK?” It makes me think that the gastardly thing is that the mods told him he was SK and maybe he just figured, “Fuck it, what’s the point?”
I’m wondering about that, too. In fact, I’m wondering if anyone got the “correct” roles.
I noticed he did do that at night as you said. But it’s still weird…it’s not like anything good comes of Nanook dying as he was a power role.
I note that AllWalker earlier on said that he thought we should maybe role claim. I was wondering if he had sort of put any thoughts or hints about what we should do but I didn’t see anything. If he really was Town Cop and had a wealth of info he seems to have kept it to himself.
Maybe he was going to role claim later and got killed off for it. If anyone can see anything breadcrumbed in his last posts, feel free. I don’t see anything. He did mention ColdPhoenix but he wasn’t FOSing. Unless he was being really subtle about it.
I’m going to look over ColdPhoenix’s posts next. Of course, if he IS scum, it’s an odd thing to say…wouldn’t you be paranoid of saying something like that? I dunno. I’m getting worried.
And finally, I’m looking over ColdPhoenix’s posts to see if there’s anything to Zeriel’s suspicions.
No strong suspicions, he didn’t really commit himself anywhere on day 2. Or yesterDay for that matter.
Pointing out that there are fluff posts. It’s a good point that there are a lot of fluff posts at night, but at the same time, I think most of the people who were posting at night were also the ones doing most of the day time posting. This comes off as defensive to me–a way of defending the fact that he hasn’t contributed all that much. You don’t have to post fluff–you can post suspicions, ideas, strategy, anything. Just don’t be dead weight.
A solid “me too.” I mean, he basically admits he’s just going along with the crowd. Which is what scum tries to do but usually are smart enough not to call attention to it. They try to slip by, voting people they clearly know are town, and often they don’t have good reasons and they just jump on a bandwagon. Here’s a guy TELLING US HE’S VOTING BAND WAGON.
As for not voting Darth, he didn’t vote for anyone else that day either.
Making or agreeing with the points that others have made. A lot of “me toos,” no real substance. It’s like his play strategy is don’t make waves. Someone who’s town might be afraid of getting lynched erroneously but a townie would also try to open up discussion. I think he’s scum who’s just trying to float on by.
For those reasons, Vote ColdPhoenix.
Well, NOW we got somethin’ to talk about! To the afterlife: thank you, Nanook, for claiming before the end, otherwise we wouldn’t have dick.
So. If he claimed truly (and I don’t know why you’d claim SK otherwise unless you were a real jerk who hates the game, and I know Nanook has played a lot) then either:
the reveals are lies
our role PMs are lies
Nanook claimed to have been blocked - of course, we can’t assume any blocks are the actions of power roles instead of mods.
My question is, what’s the feeling on whether we should roleclaim so we can find out what’s going on vis a vis the roles? On the one hand, having a list of claimed roles that include lies may not help us figure out what’s going on with the modding, but it might give us a clue. On the other hand, is it in our best interests to “play against the mods” rather than proceed as in a regular game and play against the scum?
Also, I guess the mods could always change their MO if we figure it out. One assumes they can read.
Goddamit, you are going to make me use the tag aren’t you?
[Gasterds Honest Truth] The game is playable and there are rules, you just don’t know them. We won’t go changing things up on you if you start to figure them out.[/ght]
Jerkface
Well… Nanook said he’d tried to kill off Freudian Slit and failed.
If we take his statement at face value, he could have been blocked, his powers could have been shorted, or any other number of options. We could ask Freudian, of course, but even if she answers, we can’t be certain whether she is scum who’d be covering her tracks or whether she’d be telling the truth.
We’ve certainly forgotten about one point in the setup of this game, though:
The current anomalies certainly are part of the setup. Does anyone see a pattern yet?
I’m leery of assuming that the roles are inaccurate–clearly at least one of our doctors knows he’s a doctor, since we have kills not happening. And we have not had the rash of deaths-by-missing-required-actions that we would have had if SKs/Vigs got the wrong roles.
I think this is barking up the wrong tree–the game is intended to be winnable, after all. I’d be more inclined to think that the reveals are wrong than the PMs.
I’d be further inclined to think that the reveals, if wrong, are wrong in a way that has a pattern–generally I interpret “Gastardly” as “off-kilter” or “very different from the norm”, not “impossible” or “random”.
If we have a cop alive who has any information that can confirm or deny a similarity between your investigation results and the death reveals, consider that it might be helpful when deciding whether to claim today.
For what it’s worth, I don’t have a power role. If someone did protect me, thanks…I’m just as in the dark as everyone else. I don’t know why Nanook would say that if he really had the role that he did. I’m inclined to think something’s up but…what?
Just curious: how do you know we have “kills” (plural) not happening? So far the only evidence we have for a kill not happening is Nanook’s word for it.
We had two kills the night before Gryff (notationally a Vig) died. We had two kills the night Gryff died. We had two kills after Gryff died.
Therefore, since all kills are obligatory as far as I remember from the rules, at least one kill (on Night One) has been blocked. Probably two (counting whatever Gryff did the night he died) unless there’s a priority of operations that resulted in him being killed before he could kill.
Hence, “kills”. Nanook’s word doesn’t mean anything at all to me.
Of course the above analysis is totally invalid if the reveals are faulty, but I discussed that possibility too.
If Nanook had played more, I think we’d have a better feel. As it is he was barely there and we just got a lot of him lurking followed by a pissy outburst. I’m half inclined to think he was just annoyed b/c of his off board stuff and because he came back to find a lynch mob–literally, so he decided to fuck with us. If this weren’t a gastard game, I’d chalk it up to him just being at the end of his rope and kind of just flipping us the bird.
You made a comment in post #543 about how maybe everybody shows up town on death. **Zeriel **asked the question to mods and didn’t get an answer.
**Nanook **had claimed to be a seriel killer but then was shown as town upon his death.
I thought we’d cracked it! That was what made the game gastardly, it seemed clear to me (and I thought everyone else) that we now knew what was going on.
All of the above led to my comment. As I saw it we hadn’t necessarily lost 9 (or however many) town but potentially killed some scum too! Therefore things didn’t seem as bleak as before.
Of course, that line of logic has now, with the death of Mahaloth, been shown to be incorrect.
Now to go back and review the thread in more depth. We’ve finally got a goon and so some info will hopefully be revealed!
