I’ve been using a running log which I installed in my Windows ME, called RunMaster, in March 2001. I’ve had no problems logging in my activities in this log until today, when I get this message: “Incompatible database version.” WTF. I’ve been using this for 3 months (actually more, since in March is when I installed a new hard drive) w/o problems. What’s going on? I can put in the CD disc and reinstall it, but I don’t want to lose all the data I have.

I don’t know RunMaster from Adam, but that error message is usually caused by bad data in a database definition (corrupted indexes is one common source). The data is likely recoverable, but you will need to repair the database to get to it. How you do that should be in the software documentation. If not, you should contact the manufacturer.
Well, I used System Restore and went back to 6/6, the date of the last update from Microsoft, the earliest date I could go back, and my RunMaster is OK now. All the date was preserved. I don’t know what caused it to go bonkers Monday night (which must have been the date), but thanks to System Restore I’m copasetic again. Thanks DDG and SCSimmons for taking the time to reply.
