Incontinence and furniture

It seems like a lot to me , too. But in addition to having her checked out, you might want to try an external catheter - Here’s a link to one I found. There are other designs, and I don’t have any experience with the female ones, but it might be worth a try.

Call her doctor again, and ask for another evaluation (by a different nurse).

I have some washable bed pads for a family member.

The back is water resistant. Change often and the chair or bed will remain dry.

The other option is to get the recliner reupholstered in a heavy vinyl. They can replace the foam padding that is soiled.

When my father was experiencing issues similar to your mother’s I had his doctor write a prescription for a hospital bed for his home. Medicare covered some of the expenses and I had to pay a monthly fee until the bed was paid for. The medical supplier has to be Medicare approved and the doctor has to indicate medically necessary. It would be worth looking into.

He became too difficult for me to care for at home so I moved him to a personal care home. The bed went with him LOL!
After he passed away in the hospital following another round of infections the personal care home agreed to keep it. It was fully operational and in great shape. Easy to clean and care for and very easy to adjust for comfort.

A naugahyde chair with a plush slipcover might be an option if they are easy enough to swap out. Get a couple of spare slipcovers, and use the absorbent chair pads on top of that. Swap out the chair pad or the entire slipcover as needed.

I wasn’t necessarily thinking a full hospital bed, but an adjustable bed, like people get to watch tv. I found some online under $1000, Costco has a range starting just over that, with and without mattresses. There may be other options to rent, or used beds (you supply the mattress) available to purchase.
