My experience with this product is in aviation, where we used it on various fasteners holding various Very Important Bits together and did NOT want them spontaneous undoing themselves while in flight. Also, makes it much, much easier on post (or pre) flight inspections to find which screws, nuts, and bolts might be loosening due to all the vibration inherent in aircraft in use. Before spontaneous disassembly. And sure, there’s the argument for a permanent fastener but some of these bits might need to be replaced at some point and a semi-permanent fastener made more sense for that. But a semi-permanent fastener you need to watch very closely.
I’ve had a few yardsticks but they’ve all been freebies handed out at fairs or events, with advertising on one side.
I’d like to add that LocTite comes in various strengths. Some such as stud/bearing mount are intended to be virtually permanent, while others are intended to just add vibration resistance so the fastener stays tight during normal use. Red, Blue, Purple all have different resistance to removal.
Was this in the US, or in one of those metric system countries?
And do other countries use the word “yardstick” in a metaphorical sense?
You see, you should have asked for anaerobic thread adhesive.
Cherry flavored. Seriously, Loctite sort of smells like cherry candy.
A couple of years ago, I noticed that the hardware used in the kitchen cabinet hinges to adjust their fit kept coming loose, so I had to keep adjusting them on a weekly basis. Tiring of this, I asked my spouse to pick up some Loctite from the store. She did, and brought home Loctite branded superglue.
It hadn’t even occurred to me that they sold anything else but the threadlocker product (in blue and red colors). She didn’t know what that was, so brought home a different thing. Lesson learned.
I didn’t know they did before this thread. Do you happen to know if they kept the threadlock stuff by the superglue stuff? I don’t remember seeing it when I was playing baffle the store clerk, but I also didn’t look at the other stuff on the shelves, I just grabbed what I wanted and left while the other customer was still educating the clerks.
My dad worked from home most of my childhood, and used superglue as a regular part of his work. When I hear ‘Loctite’ I think ‘Superglue’.
This thread is the first time I’ve heard of Loctite being anything other than superglue. That’s all I’ve ever associated with that name.
Meanwhile, the brand I’d associate most with superglue is Krazy Glue. They ran commercials in the 1970s or 1980s, like one showing a guy in a hard hat glued to a beam.
Yes, if you said “super glue” I’d think of “Krazy Glue.” But if you said “Loctite,” I’d think “super glue.” Never heard of a threadlocker before.
The only thing I ever associated with Loctite was thread locker. Didn’t even know they made glues.

Someone who grooms horses.
You don’t want to combine these.

In my experience, Loctite is best known as a threadlocker…

Over here, Loctite Superglue 3 was heavily advertised a few decades ago.

You must be young.
Loctite got its start as a threadlocker

So, I understand that it’s a type of glue to permanently fix screws? What’s the good of that?

But if you said “Loctite,” I’d think “super glue.”

Okay, kids, if we’ve learned our lesson* we can move on…

*“Don’t just use a brand name when you could use its actual name. When in doubt, communicate fully. You could even say ‘Get me some threadlocker, like Loctite’.”
So don’t just tell your wife you need Bukkake…
Around here, Loctite superglue lives with the superglue in the paint dept at Homer. I always got my threadlocker at an auto parts store.

I was Surprised, not that long ago, to find out that JB Weld made stuff other than ugly ass grey epoxy(in the red and black mini toothpaste tubes).
JB Weld - ‘Sometimes ya just got to nuke it from orbit’.
Stuff has worked great for me in the few times I had no other choice.
Great. Now the boards are giving me nonstop ads for beadboard.

I’m going to guess that the superglue was right next to the bottle of threadlocker I grabbed in the paint dept at Home depot. I didn’t look, I grabbed the familiar looking bottle, glanced at it long enough to be sure it was I wanted and left.
