Independents for Linda McMahon

In Connecticut, Linda McMahon is the Republican running for the Senate seat being vacated by Lieberman. The ads back and forth between her and Chris Murphy have been pretty nasty, but pretty standard stuff nowadays. However, today I noticed a new tack, aimed at independents. I find it interesting that she (a Republican) is aligning herself with Obama.

Seeing as Obama will likely take this state, but how do the Republicans see this?

Boy, the fucking Onion! Really into the whole post-modernist irony thing. A classic!

What are you talking about?

Is there any evidence that she actually is one of the nigh-mythical moderate Republicans, or is this just pure lies?

This is a woman whose business is professional wrestling. I imagine that she considers honesty an interesting idea, but probably best left to other people.

Nobody has any business voting for Republicans at the national level. That was not the case in 1950. Or 1960. Or 1970-1992+.

Is she really a moderate? Is she really willing to work across party lines? We’ve heard that before. Then Republican members of the Gang of 6 like Grassley ended up embracing Tea Party nonsense like death panels. Olympia Snowe IIRC, gave bogus reasons for opposing a health care reform package because “She didn’t have enough time to study it” after a solid year of focused debate.

So are you a moderate Ms. McMahon? Prove it. Tell us where you stand on fillibuster reform. Denounce members of your party who fillibuster bills that they end up voting for. This happens routinely for 90-10 votes, ones that aren’t especially controversial.

What do you think of voting against legislation that you yourself sponsored? Is that ok or is it utter bullshit?

Oh. And about those jobs you want to create. Do you agree with textbook economics? Or do you side with the crackpots? Just wondering. And don’t tell me about all your business experience: the Senate is about setting policy not selling tickets. Those are different things, and only some of the skills transfer (like running an office for example).

The elucidator is noting that vague Republican promises of bipartisanship are beyond laughable. Sort of like Salvador Dali, but more distorted.

One regret for leaving CT is that I can’t vote against this evil woman.

I would consider moving to CT just for that reason.

Anybody who hasn’t, stop and click the link, and watch it through. Since none of you have mentioned the punch line, and its a doozy, and I don’t want to spoil it. But its political cynicism in crystalline form, weapons-grade purity.

My frame of reference may be a bit bent, I just saw my first television ad for “Batshit” Bachman, so I’m feeling kinda stabby.
