I teach a University course sometimes, but that’s not nearly high school, I know. All the people in my class want to be there (well, until they get the syllabus, at least…)
Actually, I didn’t want to get argumentative with you. It is a frequent quote that only bothers me in that it implies that somehow high school pressure were very different than they were in the past. I’ve been out of town for 5 days, and haven’t checked the other thread yet (having been directed to come to the Pit to see GNome meltdown…)
There is no love lost between Monty and myself, but he’s been around the board since the AOL days, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth [or at least 5 or 6 years]. Creating a sock puppet on this board is grounds for instant banning. That is why it is considered such a bad thing to accuse someone of.
Why is being banned such a big deal? Well many of us have been here for MANY YEARS and have developed close ties with this community (do you have any idea how often people get together in real life for gathings? How many people have met and gotten married here?) and consider it to be a sort of “virtual town” that they live in. [and before you say “get a real life” may I remind you that people online are every bit as much “real people” as they are when you see them on the street.]
