India says 20 soldiers killed in border dispute

I think I heard on the news that the two countries had some kind of agreement that soldiers in this area would either not have guns, or use them if they did. I don’t recall which.

This transcript from an NPR interview has the follow:

The Chinese troops with nail-studded bats is just weird. Straight out of Negan and the Walking Dead.

In a confrontation between two nuclear capable powers, it’s apparently been determined that there is a limit on how many apocalypses the world can face at one time.

How long will it take two countries of a billion people to beat each other to death with fists and Lucile bats?

At 20 fatalities per day? About 274,000 years.
Probably enough time for cooler heads to prevail.
Hell the GOP and DEM could possible agree on a SCOTUS appointment in that time.

I’ve heard claims that a lot of the deaths came from people falling over a cliff in the dark and the fighting.

What I heard is a lot of them died from exposure, the temperature and the altitude once they were wounded. I would think they would have medical facilities and staff there, but apparently it wasn’t sufficient or oriented towards the conditions…or it was far enough away from where the, um, battle took place that many died getting there. At least on the Indian side. I haven’t heard a lot of details except that Global Times article that seemed more going for ‘well, we got hurt and died too’ than giving any solid details of what happened on the Chinese side.

Dammit, I had Yellowstone Super Volcano in the pool for June, not WWIII.
