Indian Winter

Geeez. You’re too nice–I woulda whacked it with the shovel. Cause ya know, baby snakes are cute and all, but they grow up into BIG SNAKES!!! I was digging some dirt out of a flowerpot that was outside all, and I scooped up what I thought was a very large earthworm–then I realized it wasn’t a big worm, it was a little snake! I screamed and threw it across the yard. Maybe it was a baby copperhead–I’m not taking any chances!

If I see the rabid, breaking-and-entering raccoon, I won’t pick it up on a shovel and carry it into a field, or throw it across the yard. I’ll probably run really fast in the other direction.

It turns out that I’m a wishy-washy little punk. I caved. I resubscribed yesterday.

Good luck with the gastric bypass surgery, Bob, you Vunderkind you. That’s a big deal, and I wish you all the best.

I feel better today. Thanks for the alchohol rubdown of the MMP. It did the trick.

bob, I am so excited for you!

magiceyes, that police officer sounds like a real Barney. Hope he had his bullet with him in case the rr charged him or sumpin’.

swampy, after fiddy, ain’tcha sposed to not remember your birfday no more? I can’t remember mine. I even forget how old I’m gonna be.

Speakin’ of critters, The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] called me from her car this morning on her way to work. In the background was the pitiful mewing of a tiny week-old kitty that she rescued cause it seems the feral momma couldn’t count very well when she moved the babies. This one got left behind for over 24 hours. Princess got some kitty formula and an eye-dropper and is going to attempt feeding when she gets to work. Luckily a lady who works with her has experience with feeding baby kitties. Luckily, too, the attorney she works for is kinda a free spirit.

More later.

Snakes are good, they eat the little vermin that would get into your house and eat your food. Some of the snakes can’t help it if they’re poisonous and people and the wrong sort of animals sometimes make them nervous and cause the snake to bite them. Don’t blame the snake, blame society.

Of course, I say this because I don’t have poisonous snakes around my house. I have some lovely black racers though. I let them live but I did catch one trying to get in my bird cages once when I had the birds in the garage. But I just brought the birds into the spare room and let the snake indulge himself with the cockroaches and any mice he finds out there. I think he does visit my garage frequently because I found a shed skin outside the garage door recently and then saw the live snake a couple feet away.
Rabid Raccoons. I knew rabies was bad, but I had no idea that it drove the animals to break and enter. I wonder if the raccoon was not really rabid but a crack head and he was hoping to find something he could sell or trade for crack. Hmm, I think a raccoon crack head would be even worse than a rabid raccoon because eventually the raccoon will stop being rabid … permanently. Eventually it will stop being much of anything, except a corpse. But those crack head raccoons just keep stealing and using. Unless maybe the family gets together and has an intervention. Raccoons should just say “no” to crack.
Dryer: I called the gas company and they gave me a name of a couple companies to call for gas dryer hookup. I got one out this morning. The cost is $60 plus materials. Now the materials may run another $60 (hose, shut off valve, vent kit, rabid raccoon prevention, etc.) but it’s still not 350 freaking dollars!
The moral of this story is that plumbers are damned expensive. You’d think with all the money they make they could buy some decent belts for their pants.
As I sit here typing this I am smelling gas, unfortunately it is a natural gas of a different sort. The dog always makes sure to sit close to my chair when she is experiencing emissions. The other day it was really bad, she was actually making loud farts and then looking at her butt like she was surprised.
Well, pretty soon I will be able to wash and dry my laundry in my own home! Yay! I think I’ll go sort laundry.

MagicEyes, there are *copperheads *around there??? OK, I was already thinking that I didn’t want to move down there and that TaxiDriver would have to move up here if we’re going to be together, but I think that cements it. Since I moved to the city (well, the very small city anyway) from the rural area where I grew up, I haven’t seen any snakes. And that’s ok with me. I thought the only critter to worry about around your area were those little blue lizards, which I don’t really mind. But snakes… that’s a whole other story. I may have to rethink visiting! Yipes!

Yay! Ex is staying! Yay!

Yesterday was spent briskly trotting around shopping. My feet hurt today, but we’re about to have french toast with real maple syrup, so life is good.

OQD is enjoying her stay so far, I think.

I don’t have any poisonous snakes around here, just the occasional red racer or garden snake. We have the occasional possum and raccoons around here, but fortunately, none of the raccoons seems to be rabid. We also have squirrels, lots and lots of squirrels who like to run across the top of the fence and drive my dog absolute batshit. Squirrels and crows, the dog just goes nuts when he sees them. He’s a weirdo.

Okay, I have put a serious honker in my back and I’m embarrassed to say I did it this morning while plucking my eyebrows. How the hell did I do that? I am in serious pain and am kinda hunched over on my left side. I must be getting old. When it first happened I couldn’t move for about 15 minutes.

My birthday is next month on the 19th. There won’t be any pool party as we don’t have a pool. The 19th is also a workday so I’ll prolly just work anyway. I am proud, PROUD, I say, to be turning 41.

I spent seven hours doing touch up and trim work on the paint job yesterday, and NO, we’re still not done. The hubby didn’t want to paint. We’ll get there.

Well, today we sign the final paperwork on the boat loan and on Saturday we pick her up. Hubby wanted to go out on Sunday with the boat, but I reminded him that Sunday is opening day of fishing season and the lakes are sure to be very crowded. Folks up here like to fish, a lot. We want to go out the first couple of times and get running the boat and loading and unloading her down before we invite friends. We both grew up around boats, but it’s not like we ever had to actually do any of the work involved with them.

It sure is a pretty boat; a Bayliner 205 20 foot open bow runabout with a five liter 8 cylinder motor. Should work very nicely for skiing.

Well, I think I’m gonna take some Motrin and see if that helps my back any. Then I’m gonna try and get some more work done around the house.

Even more reason to come par-tay!!!

Oh, I also wanted to say, “Yay! Ex is staying!”. I always knew you were just a big ol’ softy at heart!

I too shall chime in and say YAY! Ex is stayin’! YAY!

Yay! Glad you’re staying Ex.

Um, Taters, if you’re prone to back problems is waterskiing really a good idea? Just wonderin’. I don’t want to rain on your parade though! The new boat sounds great! Just don’t hurt yourself.

I’m a big ol’ softy in the head, is what I am.

Svelting it is. I just set my surgery date for June 6th…

See, that’s just it; I’m not normally prone to back problems. I’ve kinda had a bad spate of something going on. My lower back consistently bothers me, but…I’m carrying a few extra pounds. When (hopefully not IF) those pounds come off, the back problems should subside. Besides, my mattress sucks and I’m thinking that’s a contributing factor as well. I can’t talk the hubby into buying a new mattress because we’ve only had this mattress and boxspring set a few years.

I’m thinkin’ the water skiing will only strengthen my back. I’ve been exercising during my lunch hours at work. I lazed out this week, but I’m on vacation and I am doing other things. Admittedly, I need to be more consistent with the exercising, but in time this will strengthen my back too.

Best of luck with the surgery V-Bob. Are you gonna change your name to SVB (Svelte VunderBob)?

Ha! So yesterday 65 American degrees. Today 6 inches of snow and still going. I LOVE Wyoming. I wanna be at home on the sofa in m,y PJ’s wrapped in a blanky with a mug of hot chocolate watching movies.

Stoopid weather

Maybe, when my ass looks good enough to wear those Calvin Klein’s…

'cept I’m a Wrangler fan at the moment…

Bumba, I’ve finally sent you an e-mail with an order for your fabulous products. I’m sorry it took me so long to respond; especially since I nagged you for a list.

Only a little more than two weeks and I get to meet Swampy, Bumba, Bumba Wife and some Seattle dopers. I’m really looking forward to it.

I am wearing my U2 concert T-shirt. Yes, we had to get t-shirts and a program. Seeing as how this shirt is not something I can wear to work, it’s needs to be a wear around the house, go to the grocery store, etc. type of shirt.

V-Bob , see I appreciate a man in a nice fitting pair of Levi button fly 501s myself. That’s what my hubby wears.

Vunderbob mmmmm cowboys with Wrangler butts.

Admit it - you just didn’t want to lose a forum where you could be close to me. Nothing to be ashamed of - stronger men than you have battled the same urges and caved. I’m sorry I’m so irresistable… Just ask swampy and VunderBob - they know first hand!
And GOOD NEWS!!! We’ve sold our lot - closing is May 4. The guy who’s buying it doesn’t care if it doesn’t perc this year - he said if that’s the case, he’ll try again next year. We’ll make a little profit - not as good as if we had a good perc, but still lots better than any CD rate I’ve seen of late, and definitely better than the market over the last 3 years, so there’s that. We may be able to afford to build a deck out back this summer! Way cool!

It’s such a relief to know we’re almost rid of that hunk of dirt. YAY!

Congratulations! It’s always nice when something goes right! Get the deck built and have big ol’ BBQs with lots of beer!

I’ve done nothing exciting today. I cleaned and conditioned my leather furniture. Whoopee! I lead such an exciting life. On the other, we’re leaving in about an hour to sign the paperwork on the boat and take the check to the dealer. I was looking at boat stuff (ski vests, ropes, tubes, etc) today. Guess the bug is nibbling away at me too.
