I think I’m sexy now…
I’m still gunnin’ for SVB (Svelte VunderBob ).
I didn’t take Motrin, I took Aleve for my back pain and it kicking in a little. My range of motion has expanded a little, although I still kinda feel like the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
FCM, I’m sendin’ best wishes for your daughter’s speedy recovery from her surgery.
The most “authentic” Mexican food I have ever eaten came from my neighbor two doors down (they’re from Mexico, what a surprise!). When we moved in the came over with plates loaded with carne asada, tortillas, rice, home made guacomole (very spicy), etc. They are very nice people. Also, while growing up for we had friends for many years that were Mexican. They made homemade tortillas every morning.
It’s raining and I need to cut the lawn (well the back yard anyway). Of *course * it’s raining. The weekend is nigh, we’re supposed to have a BBQ with a buttload of people and their munchkins tomorrow, and we’re getting a boat. This means I will have rambuctious munchkins running through my house tomorrow vs. playing outside. Ya know, I must be a cranky ol’ so and so, because I just don’t seem to have the patience for little ones like that. I don’t get it, I’m not that old and outwardly I don’t show it, but inside I get all stressed. Sigh… I need a 'tude adjustment I guess.
I grew up around here! You get so used to the lack of spice after years and years that when you do go somewhere else, you just can’t handle anything spicy at all. So I look all wimpy. It sucks.
I grew up here too.
The first time I had really spicy food I thought the bottom half of my face was going to slag off.
Did you get any of the homemade tortillas, Taters? mmm… tortillas from home are the best. Mine are like crackers, but maybe I need to try learning again. It’s been a few years since the last try and I think the horror of the last batch has faded from most people’s memories.
I don’t suppose that Mexican restaurant is being very authentic with it’s non-spicy dishes, but spicy salsas to add, Ex? "Cause that’s how a lot of dishes in Mexico tend to be. Then there’s places like Taco Hell who think ketchup is right on the edge, spice wise.
You guessed it, it’s lunch time and I’m hungry!
Ashes, Ashes, I got the homemade tortillas all the time, still warm. They were very good. Unfortunately, this was when I was a child, and it’s been many, many years since then. The neighbor I have now kinda slowed down on the giving food out, but anytime there is a community BBQ he and the wife are there with tons of good food. I can’t wait for the next BBQ.
Wow, FCM, that sounds scary. Glad you’re OK, even if the van isn’t so hot. And good thoughts for ThePerfectChild and her surgery.
Deer have become a new fear of mine, ever since I discovered that there are deer that live at the end of the next block. They have a lovely view of downtown Columbus from their little wooded area. Just a little too much wildlife for me, thanks.
LT - Congrats on the upcoming wedding. Sorry, you’ll have to find some way to get the yummy ice cream cake to us. It’s a rule.
swampy, I believe that a poll of MMPers would reveal that we are confident that you could get into quite a bit of trouble in only 3 days. After all, you have that new car. And all that emergency ice cream.
All the talk of tortillas made me hungry, so I had to have waffles. One of my zillion former roommates was from Texas and would make tortillas from time to time. Yum. My mom’s family is from Mexico City, so I’m more used to corn tortillas, but my friend’s tortillas gave me a new appreciation for flour ones.
Happy Friday!!!

As I type this, my sweetie is fixing my van. We took off the broken pieces and figured out what we needed to do. He said he didn’t need my help, so I’ve got some clothes in the wash while he’s putzing in the garage.
I’m so lucky to have him!
I had to take my kitten in to work tonight because she’s been having a problem with her mouth and her jaw was swollen. It turned out she has some tooth root abscesses and we had to pull several teeth. She had a bad sore inside her mouth on the side that was swollen and lost the most teeth on that side. She does not have feline leukemia or FIV so it seems to be related to having had the severe upper respiratory infections she had. She may eventually lose more teeth. Poor baby. Strangely enough, once I brought her home and fed all the cats she tried to eat the canned/dry food mix everyone else was eating. I took her aside and gave her some nice soft canned food, she ate a little of that and then ran back to the rest of the group to eat the other stuff.
While I was at work I also picked up a chick. A baby chicken. It was recently hatched and has a leg deformity. I am going to try taping the legs and giving it physical therapy to see if it can get better. A co-worker is moving to some farmland and she said she’ll take it when it’s older, if it gets better. I have used hobbles on other baby birds and even puppies who develop splay legs, so it’s worth a try.
Ironically, I had chicken soup for dinner.
