I’m not sure I understand the mod note. @Broomstick is, I understand Jewish. She titled the topic with a joke: Indiana Jews and the Temple of Broomstick, which is a play on the Indiana Jones film franchise. Methamphetamine abuse is a common feature of many rural areas, and Indiana has a lot of rural areas. Methamphetamine abuse is increasing in Indiana. There was an Indiana Jones movie with ‘Crystal Skull’ in the title. @Dallas_Jones’ post is just a natural iteration of the OP’s title. Is the mod not aware of the film franchise?
Yes, the thread is serious and heartfelt; but the OP herself made the joke title, so I don’t think the mod note was merited.
It was a zero-content post that had absolutely nothing to do with the thread other than giggling about “Indiana Jews” which, incidentally, is also a good description of his only other post in the thread.
So maybe one was enough.
Yeah, and it kinda implied that meth is somehow relevant to Broomstick or the topic of the thread. Which it isn’t. It’s hardly just Indiana that has a meth problem, and that’s not the thread for discussing the problem Indiana has with drugs.
No, it didn’t. Unless someone is looking for a reason to be offended. There was no implication that it was directed at Broomstick.
I thought the fact that it was in her thread, about her, gave it that implication. And, even if that wasn’t intended, the post was completely off-topic.
And yes, I’ve watched the movies. I like the movies. A joke on the title could certainly have been made that wasn’t about meth. If it had somehow been a pun on the crystal skull movie that referenced Judaism, it would have been on-topic and funny.
You might ask if this Broomstick person was offended or not…
I have to say that @puzzlegal 's post above this one is pretty spot on.
Not to mention that the first movie, which featured the Ark of the Covenant, would have also been a good one to riff on.
