What happens to products advertised on infomercials after the infomercial stops airing? I haven’t watched any in years, but there was one product I was interested in, something that let you do math problems fast. In the examples they showed kids were asked complex math questions, and without giving it any visible thought, the kids would give the answers instantly. But I haven’t heard of that system for years. Anyway, if a product is successful enough, does it move to stores? Or do all infomercial products just fade away?
Yes, i remember that product too. It wasn’t long before they took it off air. Some products are brought back when it’s in demand. Not too sure about this particular product though. Try http://www.theshoppingnetwork.com. The product you’re looking for might not be there, but doesn’t hurt to try.
Not Chisimbop is it?
Anyhow, there’s a store at our mall called “As Seen on TV.” In addition to most current infomercial products, it has a lot of the old ones.
Really bad ones probably just sell their extra stock to a surplus-overstock retailer and fade off into the sunset.
If it’s “chisimbop” you’re thinking of, you might try looking for “The Complete Book of Fingermath” by Edwin M. Lieberthal, either at your local library or bookstore.
Thanks, I’ll have to give it a try. I’ve never bought anything advertised on an infomercial but I thought, if I could do math extreamly fast, it could come in very handy.
Hmmm, its been a long time, but I don’t remember the name Chisimbop, so it might be something else. I’ll check it out though and find out. Thanks.
That’s Chisenbok. Involves tapping your fingers on a surface real fast, like you’re doing “Innagaddadavida”. Mr. Rilch and Friend and I rip on it all the time. “C’mon, Friend, it’s not that hard to figure out the tip! Use your Chisenbok!” [tap tap tappity taptap]
