There are plenty of resources for Manx Gaelic online, and books on Manx language at the library. Where should I go to get information about Manx culture, the people, and clothing?
Links from the Centre for Manx Studies.
Our own Lobsang is a Manxman, who has of late gotten quite interested in the heritage of his island. I post this, not for any substantive input, in hopes he will do a vanity search and contribute to this thread as a result.
I was about to reply to this roughly 2 hours ago when my work suffered a DOS Attack (Denial of Service)
Anyway, I’m at home now, and yes, I caught this thread with the ol vanity search.
There’s a place on the IOM where a typical village from the past is simulated. I don’t think I’d be able to better GorillaMan’s link.
I’ve lived here about 4 years, I don’t have much to contribute about it’s historical culture. But If you have any specific questions I can have a go. As for modern culture/people/clothing it’s pretty indistinguishable (apart from nature’s contribution - superior hill’s glens, bays, and coast) from England.
P.S. I know of one, maybe two dopers who are manx-born. They don’t post much but maybe they lurk and do vanity searches.
One of them is green_dragon
His rate is 0.54 posts a day and his last post was 8 months ago so I don’t think he stuck around.
And I just realized I’m wasting my time because the OP is banned.
My ancestry is from the IoM on my father’s side. They came out here to Australia in the 1850s. I’ve been there once and also have a continuing interest, FWIW.
