Information on Polyurethane condoms, please.

Decided to splinter this off into a new topic instead of hijacking Inigo Montoya’s Icky Question thread.

WhyNot brought up polyurethane condoms, which I have never tried, but sound great. So please anybody with experience, tell me about them (especially the smell issue. God I hate that about latex and/or lube and/or spermicide. The lubricated w/o spermicide are definitely better than with, but are still not ideal).

Also, when I was on Trojan’s website, I found the warning “CAUTION: Spermicidal Lubricants Are For Extra Protection Against Pregnancy. Spermicidal Lubricants Are Not For Rectal Use Or More-Than-Once-A-Day Vaginal Use.” We switched a while back from spermicide to just regular lubricated, but the “more-than-once-a-day vaginal use” thing confuses me.

Durex avanti condoms are smaller in girth(unsure about length) then regular trojans. I’m not sure, but the trojan ultra thins may also be smaller. This may cause a problem if you’re of the Larger variety.

I believe the once a day warning is because nonnoxyl-9 is actually a rather harsh chemical which can damage the sensitive vaginal lining leading to microscopic holes which can actually facillitate STD transmission.

I still hate condoms.

Geez, Holy run on sentences -.-;

anyway, Cite

Spermicide is irritating, and because of this fact, actually increases the likelihood of transmitting an STD. Polyurethane condoms do not smell, and never cause allergic reactions like latex can. The poly’s aren’t as stretchy as latex, but they are thinner and not as prone to degradation. I’d recommend trying them out. The only real downside for most people is the higher price.

It can also cause bleeding and cervical erosion. Some girls are more sensitive to the chemical than others, so YMMV.
