Inspector Gadget the cartoon series

I absolutely loved Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget when I was growing up as well. BTW Penfold was a mole, hence all the gags about him not being able to see without his glasses.

Postscript After I moved to England I started wearing grey Inspector-Gadget style jackets. Some time later I also bought a grey trilby, looking for that The Third Man/LA Confidential look. Wearing the two together, however…I once got on a train and THE WHOLE CARRIAGE started up a chorus of “Doo doo doo doo doo, Inspector Gadget…” Needless to say, I was gutted when I wasn’t cast in the film.

Who remembers Swat Cats? They still play reruns sometimes on the Cartoon Network, but I never seem to catch them.

Anyone remember what their names were?

[hijack]
Who played Penny and her dog (seem to remember his name as either Roger or Brain (which might be from Pinky and the Brain)) in the movie?

And btw, this child of the 80s (born in 1981) remembers Darkwing Duck, Count Duckula, and the carebears cartoons, not to mention the Gummi Bears . . .

Duckula was one of my favorite cartoons, but I can’t remember anything about it.

You know, I really liked Swat Kats - I wish they made more episodes. And I know I watched the other shows (Duckula, Banana Man) but they must’ve been on too late at night or something (Nickelodeon, I think had 'em on around my bed time), because I can barely remember them. Remember 'em being funny though… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just remember hating banana man with a passion. it was one of the few cartoons we could get on the USAF network in Holland, along with duck tales (they once showed the same episode of ducktales every weekday for 6+ months–“Duck to the Future” it was called) we also got a few others, count duckula being one of them, though I don’t remember much of it. And my personal favorite “Dino-saucers” about the dionsaurs from outer space.

Tranzor Z, Jason and the Wheeled Warriors, Mask, Silverhawks. Discuss.

OOOO, the only cartoon I don’t remember was Tranzor Z. I loved Jason and the Wheeled Warriors. Didn’t they call him Jayce?

Thundar the Barbarian was cool but Ooklah the Mok rocked my world. As a side note the band Ooklah the Mok is pretty interesting too. I loved how they showed the moon being cracked and that was the origin of magickal powers.

Danger Mouse was better than Count Duckula in my opinion but Penfold wasn’t nearly as good as Nanny.
I remember seeing Banana Man but not really ever getting into it.

How about the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon? Anyone watch that and like it. I wish they weren’t made for kids and then they could be so much cooler like the Hobbit.

Was it the Inhumanoids that featured Decompose. Now that was a cool cartoon. It was on about the same time as Jason and the Wheeled Warriors and Thundercats (another of my old favourites minus the stupid whining cat). I would love to see an episode or five of the Inhumanoids again. I remember Decompose used to scare me as much as Sinistar did when I first started playing videogames.

HUGS!
Sqrl

Sqrl, the stupid whining cat was Snarf. And that’s the only thing he said, “Snarrf, snarrrf…”
At my house, whenever somebody is whining and being a baby, they get a chorus of “Snarf…snarf…”

I remember MASK, I loved that cartoon. Silverhawks were my all-time favorite, at least for a week. I still have one of the action figures in the box. Did anyone watch He-Man and the Masters of the Universe? I occasionally catch a rerun of the Gummi Bears cartoon, it is still really cheesy.

I forgot to mention the OP. Inspector Gadget is one of my alltime favorite cartoons. My cell phone plays the theme song when it rings. Frank Welker played Brain, the dog. Penny was voiced by Holly Berger.

I remember Thundarr the Barbarian. Here’s something you may not know: The characters, settings and basic premise were all drawn and written by the King of comic book artists, Jack Kirby. So, if Thundarr, the character, bore more than a passing resemblance to The Mighty Thor, it was no coincidence. If his girl-friend Princess Ariel bore more than a passing resemblance to Big Barda (from The New Gods and Mister Miracle), it, too, was no mere coincidence. And if the whole premise was reminiscent of Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth, welllll…

Anyone else remember the Japanese cartoon Star Blazers? Since it premiered in the US in 1979, folks thought it was “inspired by” (IOW, a rip-off of) Star Wars, which premiered in the US in 1977. However, the cartoon premiered in Japan in 1974, under the title Space Cruiser Yamato. And George Lucas was in Japan at that time.

I mean, the aircraft-like space fighters in Star Blazers look and behave an awful lot like X-Wings…

Nobody has mention Snorky or Beanie and Cecil.

How about Fritz the Cat?
