Can I accuse someone of being a sock in the pit?
You can - but only in the Pit.
Cool, thanks.
Was maybe 80% sure, but it’s good to dead sure about some things.
You can even accuse someone of being a shocking cock sock there.
Those are the chicken-zapping foot covers I assume.
Yes, the chicken booters.
So, junior modding is allowed in the pit? “You’re a sock” is not an insult, it is another form of prohibited behavior.
I think it falls under the same rule as calling someone a troll, which you can do in the Pit and not elsewhere. Socking is a form of trollery.
“You’re a sock!” is not junior modding. Mods don’t tell socks “You are a sock!”, they simply ban them. “Don’t make political jabs in GQ!” would be junior modding, since it’s close to what a mod would do if they considered a post in GQ to be a political jab.
That said, I’m fairly certain junior modding is allowed in the pit.
I’m not sure that’s actually true, so much as there are relatively fewer moddable infractions to junior-mod.
I’m guessing that junior-modding a perceived violation of one of the Pit’s few rules would still be moddable.
Junior modding in the pit must involve saying “No warning given.”
Yes, it’s okay to call people “socks” in the Pit, as well as “troll.”
A lot of the rules in the other forums are there to help prevent fights from starting. That’s not really a concern in the Pit, so most of those rules don’t apply, or work in slightly different ways.
I thought that “junior modding” was any content that has the effect or apparent intent of admonishing a poster of a rule violation, regardless of language, vocabulary, spelling or punctuation. The definition of “junior modding” being germane to this thread.
That would make any accusations of trolling, being a jerk, or being a sea lion in the Pit “junior modding”. Since calling someone a troll is definitely allowed in the Pit, it must not be considered junior modding.
Right, this is my sense as well. You can’t junior mod something which is not a moddable infraction, according to the rules of that forum.
If I insult you in the Pit, and you accuse me of insulting you, that’s not junior modding. That’s more like “Duh, and here’s another.”
This is true, but the converse doesn’t necessarily hold: socking is not allowed anywhere on the board, including the Pit, but you can still accuse someone of being a sock in the Pit without necessarily drawing a note for junior modding. Likewise, hate speech is very much against the rules in the Pit, but I’m not going to mod other posters for calling out someone using racial slurs.
I wouldn’t go quite so far as to say that the rule against junior modding doesn’t apply at all in the Pit, but I’m having trouble thinking of a scenario off the top of my head where I’d enforce it. I suppose if someone were continually trying to explain the rules to other posters, and getting it wrong, I might invoke it, but it’d have to be a fairly chronic problem.
