"Intellectual Dark Web" Stupidity Omnibus

LOL!!

Hey, I had a similar reaction to watching your sites get destroyed. LOL brothers!

The MAGA heads are the people who created the term “PC”–albeit before the hats existed. Their meaning is the only meaning the term has ever actually had.

Any attempt by others to give it some more legitimate meaning only legitimizes the term. It doesn’t change how the majority of people use it. It just makes it seem legitimate because legitimate people also use that term.

PC, SJW, virtue signaling, and so on: they’re all just right wing snarl words, and have no legitimacy other than as shiboleths for the right. They don’t describe real concepts, just ways that the right attacks the left.

Weiss is not left or center-left any more than Tim Pool or Carl Benjamin are “classical liberals”.

You’re Maoists, Jacobins. You stroke each other’s egos, style yourselves superior to everyone in the nine deciles to your right. Great fucking strategy.

How politically correct of you.

(Couldn’t possibly be more wrong in my application of the term than anyone else in this thread, given that it basically means fuck-all.)

Anyways, what else is the IDW up to?

Ah yes, Jordan Peterson is starting a new website! It’s called “Thinkspot”, and uh… wow, who thought this was a good idea?

The platform is still in development, but Peterson has already chosen high-profile alt-right figures, such as Dave Rubin and rape connoisseur Carl “Sargon” Benjamin, to be part of the beta crowd.

Nothing screams “thoughtful discourse” like Carl “I wouldn’t even rape you” “With enough pressure, I might cave” Benjamin.

To guarantee this, Peterson has promised it would take intervention from a U.S. court before anyone would be removed from the site.

Well, good - I needed a place to test out my botnet that consists entirely of new and inventive ways to post Goatse to public places. “We refuse to take anything down unless a court orders us to” is not a sign that you’re going to be a haven for free speech and discourse, it’s a sign that you’re absolutely gonna get that fucking intervention. I mean, christ dude, 8chan, Kiwifarms, and Gab already exist, why did you think we needed another place for extremely terrible people to congregate?

Because that’s the thing about this - the main people it is catering to are extremely terrible. It’s the same dynamic as Gab and Voat. The overlap between “People who are interested in what Jordan B. Peterson have to say” and “People who are worried about getting banned from other social media platforms” consists of antifascists (whose interest in the site is based entirely on keeping an eye on the fascists and who get banned because of bullshit mass reporting and automated moderation) and completely fucking terrible human beings like Paul Nehlen. As the article points out:

But it won’t be the constant fines or potential FCC takedowns that will be the end of Thinkspot. Rather, it will likely go the way of all far-right social media: irrelevancy. Look at Twitter alternative and antisemitic meme generator Gab, which is barely clinging to life and hosting space. Or Righter, the dating site where MAGA supporters can find their matching red cap, which has a dating pool that’s comically shallow. As a screechy minority, far-right voices simply don’t have the numbers or clout to successfully self-segregate. So let’s encourage the worst people in your life to give Thinkspot a shot, as it won’t actually change anything except give us a few quiet weeks on Facebook.

But hey, maybe I’m not being fair. After all, Intellectual Dark Web! Jordan Peterson is a smart guy[sup]TM[/sup]! He pals around with all those other people SlackerInc really likes! He’s definitely not a fascist, or fascist-adjacent, or anything like that. Maybe I’m wrong, and it won’t attract a crowd that’s like Gab, just more wordy (or, alternatively, fade into utter irrelevance because Gab already exists).

…Anyone wanna take a bet?

Says the guy who routinely talks about his supposedly high test scores and superior blue-eyed Northern European genetic ancestry.

Non sequitur, and a strawman to boot, since I don’t claim any kind of absolute superiority. Just aggregate differences.

BPC, I find it interesting that you cite a source declaring the alt-right to be too tiny to even manage an Internet quorum, yet the way you define it in other posts (anyone who thinks political correctness is a problem) would include hundreds of millions of people in the United States alone.

Andy, BPC, et al: you might find the argument I am currently having on Twitter amusing. I can’t seem to convince my interlocutor that I am not the sort of person who sees racism everywhere and gins up controversy where none is merited. :smack:

Fucking cite the bit in parentheses, liar.

People seem to be reluctant to take on Pinker ITT, but maybe now that he has taken on climate orthodoxy and BLM in the same post, along with some other progressive shibboleths, some of those who tend to reflexively but fiercely defend said shibboleths will be roused into a righteous fury:Focal Point: Harvard Professor Steven Pinker says the truth lies in the data

 I’m sure you’ll split hairs because you didn’t phrase it exactly that way, but this was the kind of thing I had in mind:

Whether or not you agree with my interpretation of your comments, calling me a “liar” over it is way OTT. :dubious:

50% of black people report that they personally have been mistreated by police. If that data isn’t concerning to you or Pinker, than I suspect you’re not actually that interested in human rights for black people.

You think “alt-right” and “right wing” are synonyms?

For people like BPC? I have gotten no impression that he feels otherwise. “Right wing” implies being fairly far over to the right, not just center-right. And I’d be surprised if BPC buys the line some conservatives might present, that while the alt-right may be racist, regular old conservative right wingers are not. But if he insists otherwise, I’ll take him at his word.

And again, even disputing my characterization need not rise to the level of accusations of my being a liar. I was sincere in characterizing someone who generally does not mince words in describing his antipathy toward the right.

Yeah fuck off asshole

Very eloquently argued.

I tried arguing eloquently and you ignored the meat of my argument and pretended I couldn’t tell the difference between the alt-right and the more general right, so I’m not going to bother any more. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on.

Implies? No. That’s entirely your gloss. Right wing is everything right of centre. That’s the plain meaning.

If the “centre” has substantial non-overlapping territory in its own right, then I might agree. But if you are envisioning some median point on a continuum where Voter n is “right wing” and Voter (n-1) is “left wing”, that’s absurd.

I frankly thought you were more discerning than this. Do you actually believe that every voter who chose Hillary in 2016 was “left wing”?

No, I do believe there’s a (small) centre. I didn’t say there’s only left and right wing. Just that right of centre is not the same as alt-right.

I give a toss what you “think”…

No, from where I stand most of those are right wing too. Don’t make the mistake that America is evenly divided left wing vs right wing. The American political spectrum i s heavily right-wing weighted. If US politics were an eagle, it would fly in circles.
