Interesting little historical "How Stuff Works" firearms quiz - 30 questions

A short little “How Stuff Works” quiz.

Moves quickly - 30 questions.

First few are simple but it gets considerably harder about halfway. I got 22 out of 30 all misses were on the back end.

25/30
I scored best on modern weapons

Only missed one. I knew gunpowder was invented in China but I always thought it wasn’t used for weapons, just fireworks.
Having seen examples of ancient firearms from the Middle East, I answered Persia.
Though that did help me answer Q#26.

  1. I think I only got one actual firearms question wrong, the plastic gun one. The others were really current events questions IMO though I also got some right which I didn’t think were really gun questions.

I also didn’t agree with one of the right answers but guessed it would be what they were looking for.

I stopped after #4. If they can’t get that one right, the rest of the quiz is seriously suspect.

I got 13 right, only because I watched Top Shot. So glad that I know little about firearms.

Taking it now. #3’s wrong—the what type of gun would a sniper want. An SR-25 or M110 is going to crush most bolt guns when it comes to accuracy. Plus, rate of fire should be quicker with it. #15, the what kind of shotgun are you thinking about, is just WTF. Guessed on the Andy Jackson and got it. And the Squeeky Fromme question is just ambiguous.

Meh.

Yeah that was the one, I didn’t mention in the interest of no spoilers. I figured they’d be looking for ‘bolt action’ but it’s not obviously correct. But it’s ‘would most likely use’ not ‘would (should) want’ so I think you might argue it either way.

I got 25. Most of which I probably learned from watching Forgotten Weapons.

Id still want a bolt action rifle, no self moving mass, and can run tighter than an auto loader can.

And the answer to that question should have been that squeaky was just a stupid loser
all the way around. But yes the idiot didnt chamber a round, to bad she didnt chamber on and accidently shoot her self.

15 was just a visual based on looks, that one is kind of ambiguous

23 correct including the James Bond weapon. However, the question is wrong. It was not Bond’s weapon of choice. It was chosen for him by the weapons expert Geoffrey Boothroid on M’s orders.

In addition, in at least 18 novels he uses something else. Either the Beretta 418 or an ASP 9mm.

I got 22 right. No idea how. Probably from watching a lot of* Pawn Stars.*

24 out of 30. Not bad.

27/30, but I just guessed lucky on a couple of other ones.

Well, it was the right answer given the choices. And for most of the films anyway. Remember, it hits like a brick through a plate glass window. Hah, .380 compared to a 25 ACP.

Same with the bolt action sniper rifle, there may be other choices, but not among the answers given.

29 out of 30, blew the Glock question.

Dennis

7/30. Blew the Glock, Davy Crockett, and one other one.

23/30 all missed at the end here too.

I was getting all full of myself at the beginning, then bam.:smack:

27, only one I completely guessed on was the Chinese weapon. Overthought another, probably should have taken my time to read the “mostly plastic” one (for a given definition of “mostly,” because certainly mostly metal by weight/mass).

I’m fairly certain that #11 is wrong. AK pattern rifles are the most popular, but more AKMs are probably around than AK-47.

26/30, which is better than I would have predicted.
