Internal Server Error

Does anyone know why I keep getting the following error? Never got it before and I’ve gotten it about 15 times today, whenever I click on a forum.
Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, sysadmin-straightdope@desert.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I’ve seen that a number of times, though not as frequently. I just click refresh and it refreshes successfully.

Just as a data point I’ve surfed the forums on two different computers with two different browsers (IE 10 and Chrome) and have not gotten this error.

Actually, I may be wrong. I just noticed the “desert.net” in the OP. I don’t recall seeing that.

FWIW I’m on Safari and I got the error non stop yesterday, but haven’t seen it today.

Typically it’s a sign of a temporary server overload. Which has zero to do with you. Refresh and it’ll probably go away. If immediate refresh doesn’t work, try again in a couple minutes.

What’s “desert.net?”

Desert.net is redirected to publishwithfoundation.com. This is the host software that The Chicago Reader is published on the net with. One assumes the email wends its way back to someone who admins the board’s server.
