International Breakfast Foods

At a hotel in Hawaii their breakfast buffet was made to accommodate the tastes of Japanese tourists, to my joy. I made a beeline to the part of the buffet that served sticky white rice, miso soup, pickles and tofu. I’m not big on huge greasy American breakfasts anyway and I was relieved to find this option. This food plus chilled tropical fruit formed all of my breakfasts when I was there (with a little Spam thrown in on occasion).

Could the fish have been lox? Smoked salmon eaten on a bagel, for instance with cream cheese?

Also, was the breakfast dairy (no meat, fish is ok)? Then cream would have been fine.

I’m another soft boiled egg fan and I love using egg cups! Poached eggs on toast is my fave.
