250-1 would be about the odds of the BCCI authorised curator possessing a hose.

Is a tie a draw for betting purposes?

Good question, I suspect if you bet on a draw then a tie would count but not the other way round.

But I don’t bet so I don’t trust my judgement on this.

Speaking of ties, anyone who bet on a long-shot tie for the last NZ-England test must be pissed. That was a wide to Anderson right before he nicked the last ball to the keeper for the last wicket. Should have been a tie.

Yeah, that was mentioned on the Cricinfo commentary, to be fair even as an England fan I don’t begrudge the Kiwis that. I wouldn’t have wanted to see it decided on such a marginal call by the umpire.

I assume you didn’t have money on a tie.

Please no. Will be a nasty little chase.

Aussies down one for zero. Could get interesting.

IND aren’t going to win this if they have multiple guys out on the boundary.

AUD 1-56 off 15 overs
Head 36*
Labuschagne 19*
I think that’s the highest batting strike rate for the Test.
Ashwin and Jadeja whinging about the condition of the ball.

The portends are promising. Its the hope that kills you.

AUS home 1 down in 19 overs.

Head’s 49* will be a career defining knock.
Check out his batting pie-chart.
Whilst most of his team mates were nudging and noodling around the corners (and not forget the manic sweep-fest seen in Delhi) in this innings Travis (LHB) was hitting predominantly straight.

Credit where it’s due, Australia made it look easy in the end.

Meanwhile in their ODI series in Bangladesh, having scraped home to win the first match England are 269/6 in the second, with 5 overs to go. No idea what the pitch is like but you have to assume they’ll be disappointed if they don’t defend whatever they get from here. Especially since as I typed, over 46 went for 16.

Yes they’ve jogged past 300 and you think it’d be enough but I’d like to see a real disciplined bowling performance. Bangladesh have been a bit sloppy in that respect today and I think England will be disappointed if they don’t keep the pressure on with the ball.

I saw that England lost to Bangladesh in their 1st T20. I checked the scorecard and noticed that the England lineup was very bowler-heavy for some reason. Sure, Ali and Curran are all-rounders but they are bowling all-rounders. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if England had won, but the loss calls the decision into question.

It’s the first time they’ve lost to Bangladesh in a T20.

You do need bowling options, but I wonder if England are beginning to believe their own hype a little too much.

Given that the strategy is based on a belief that it’s very unlikely all their batters will fail to rack up big quick scores, there’s probably something clever here about tail risk.

4th Test IND v AUD @ Ahmedabad
AUS win toss and bat on what proves to be a docile deck and are 412-8 with 10 with just the three spinners to bat.
Usman Khawaja 180
Cameron Green 114 (his first ton)

The BCCI made a big show for Narendra Modi on the opening day at Narendra Modi Stadium “When cricket met Game of Thrones” is the lead in The Guardian then the day finished with AUS 255/4 off 90 overs at stumps.

Modi’s PR minders probably aren’t impressed.

Meanwhile, Khawaja has just gone after a 10 hour, 422 ball 180 which is by any standards a magnificent innings and yet he is doubtless furious with himself for missing a double century. This leaves Australia on 417 for 8 towards the end of Day 2, in a triumph of classic Test batting.

A collapse of 3 for 9 has put NZ well behind Sri Lanka, with the Kiwis now on 162/5 in the first innings chasing Sri Lanka’s 355.

And SA are giving WI hope by falling to 44/3 in their second innings, though they still lead by 111.

A lot of test cricket going on right now!

4th Test IND v AUD @ Ahmedabad
AUS all out 480
IND have 10 overs to bat.
That will give the locals something to work at.

I watch these test matches and really feel for the bench players wearing vests. It must be an excruciating process to wait on learning just an hour before a match whether you’ll be batting, bowling and fielding for 5 days or just sitting around cheering.
