It’s likely to be a washout tomorrow. If so then we are weather watching on Sunday and hoping the rain clears away as soon as possible. This series deserves a decider at the Oval.
Looks like we might get a couple hours in this afternoon, inspection at 2 (in 20 minutes).
Play to start at 2.45pm local time! Assuming it doesn’t rain in the meantime.
Bit of a chance for Australia to save it, but very much depends on the weather.
I thought Australia were fortunate to win the first two Tests. They are not a very good side and they have two 36 year old openers, a broken down spinner, a captain who doesn’t know much about the job and worse- no one putting pressure to be bought in.
I think they were ‘lucky’ to win the first one with that last partnership getting them over the line, but they outplayed us in the second and, even with an attacking Stokes century, we never really looked close to getting there.
This rain sucks. Significantly reduces the importance of the 5th test too. Hopefully the same weather causes enough havoc at the Open Championship, and we get an exciting finish there,
What???
I’m not following golf any more (because of LIV), but this seems too malevolent.
Really? As a fan with no particular favorite golfer, I wanted to see an exciting finish. The Open Championship is known for weather having a major impact on the outcome. My plan today was to watch Day 5 of the test match and Round 4 of the Open. If the weather was going to ruin one, why can’t it improve the other? Nothing against the golfer who was leading, who actually ended up winning by even a larger margin.
I can’t figure out your logic, but I apologize for thinking you meant “causes enough havoc” as an improvement.
I’m reading and rereading the posts and can’t figure it out. But I’m sure I’m missing something, so I unreservedly apologize for the “malevolent” jab.
If it helps, I didn’t mean havoc in any literal sense. And I assure you that I’m in the majority with my take. Unless you are a fan of Harman, you wanted other golfers to make it close for a tight finish.
Okay, as I said I’ve given up following golf or at least mens golf. So I had no idea that someone was so good only the weather could stop him.
Is Piers Morgan really that popular in the UK? His rants seem like he is targeting people thinking they are in Victorian times.
There’s a market for that kind of view in the UK as much as the US, unfortunately. Everyone else thinks he’s a dick.
Plenty of his type in Australia as well. Thank you.
Is Aaron Jones currently playing International? He has not played for the Seattle Orcas all season.
Pakistan are well in to “stop, stop he’s already dead” territory against Sri Lanka - having bowled them out for 166, they close on Day 3 at 563/5. A double-century for opener Shafique, and a century for Salman. That’s after day 2 was mostly washed out.
397 has to be enough of a lead - declare overnight and bowl them out ifor the innings victory, surely?
I can’t believe they came back out so someone could get his 50.
Stupid, stupid batting by Australia. Even Smith, who had something good going, perishes trying to hit Woakes out of the ground for no good reason.
