International Shipping

I’ve looked at a few shipping extimate sites, and none have been able to help me. My fiance resides in Thailand. Everything over there is bargain bin price comapared to here (here being Indiana). A new 250cc honda Enduro will run you $3500-$5000 here. There it is more like $1200-2500. But what I’m wondering is how much cheaper is it to ship a large item like a motorcycle from Thailand to here? Would it be more than the bike? Would it be worth it? Some how I doubt it will.

make sure it meets all the requirements to have it registered here. vehicles are different in different markets and if you have to modify them it can be expensive. I know it can be mighty difficult to bring cars from europe and viceversa.

I do notr know in motorcycles but cars can be quite different. If you have been to Thailand (I have) you know pollution is rampant. Vehicles do not have all the antipolluting gear they have here. maybe in a motorcycle it is not so different but there may be other issues.

I worked for a company shipping products worldwide, so I checked out the DHL site, which was what we used.

Their calculator told me that shipping a 380-lb. object from Charlotte, NC, to Bangkok cost $2,482. (They have you calculate the size of the object, called the dimensional weight, as well as the physical weight, and use the larger of the two. I don’t know what the Enduro weighs, so I just used a different bike from the Honda site).

This fee does not include any duties, if applicable.

There may be other shipping companies to check, but I suspect you’re out of luck. But try working the figures anyway, and call them up and ask. Worst they can say is no.

You really should ask Bill Gates about this one. He imported a fancy new high-performance model of Porsche that cost about $250,000. He failed to get the proper emissions certificates and US Customs seized it. Serves him right.
