Not sure which forum this goes in, so I put it here.
How long until commercial domain names start getting annoyingly wacky? Since common names like sports.com, sex.com, and auctions.com were all snatched up years ago, online merchants are resorting to making up names like bamzu.com.
Are the powers that be going to offer any fixes to save us from the inevitable ziggywhampuscatcharieum.com? New top-level domains don’t seem to work, since (in the eyes of netizens) .tv and .info have a chintzy, throwaway feel compared to the lush, old-fashioned .com.
I suppose something like http://finance//www.money.com could work, but I don’t know how it could be implemented.
Thoughts?
