Internet Explorer evil - help!

OK, so it’s not the end of the world, but it still angers me and I can’t figure out how to stop it. Many websites now have these cool little icons that go along with their websites when you store them in your Favorites folder. It makes them easy to identify, and I’m sure that some web designer spent a decent amount of time designing the icon. Unfortunately, after two days in my favorites folder, the customized icon disappears and I get the omnipresent “E” symbol.
So the question is: is there a way to keep these cool symbols alive? Or does IE snuff them out after a predetermined lifespan a la Logan’s Run?

These little icons are appropriately called “favicons.” Unfortunately, when IE downloads them from a website, they get stored in a temporary file, so after a while they will disappear. Go here for some more info and for a program to make them “sticky”:

Thank you.
