I watches Interview with a vampire last night on TNT and something bugged me.
How in the heck did Louie aquire all the money he used to buy stuff for Claudia,Lestat, and himself? Where did all his this money come from? I know he was rich but he left his plantation behind (and everything in it)
I saw part of the movie – it looked really bad. At one point, two female vampires were
imprisoned in a well to die (when the sun passed overhead). The thing is, these women were
about the dumbest creatures ever, because this was in the 1800’s and they were wearing enough
petticoats and dresses to make one hell of a sun shade.
Perhaps you need to watch the rest of the movie, Finagle. It’s probably a bit hard to walk in near the end and make a judgement on the whole thing. Better still - read the book, which takes more time to explain things that the movie glosses over.
Both the vampires imprisoned in the well died - fabric is not enough to protect them from the sun.
And Monocracy, you’re right on the long term investments - in later books, Lestat often mentions his agents and his networks of investments. Multi-millionaire vampires - because what’s the point of being immortal unless you can afford to be glamorous!
Actually, my impression was that I needed to see less of the movie.
I tried to read the book years ago. I never give up on books, and I couldn’t get through
that one.
I guess the point is, I watched that scene and instead of thinking, “Oh, what a grim and tragic scene”, I was
thinking, “Quit cowering, you stupid bints. Cover yourself with your dresses. You’re in a damn well, you’ll be exposed to sunlight for about 10 minutes, max.”
OK, maybe fabric doesn’t work, and maybe that was explained earlier in the movie, but it ruined the scene for
me.
