"Queen of the damned" some questions and some spoilers too..

Some one please help me understand.

In the movie “Queen of the Damned” Lastat (sp?) claims to have went to sleep for about a hundred years or so. But in the movie “Interview with a vampire” He was up and about. So what gives?

I’m guessing I’m probably not remembering “Interview with a vampire” correctly.

You need to read the books.
SPOILERS:

At the end of the first movie, Lestat picks up Daniel the reporter and offers him the choice, blah blah. That didn’t happen in the book. At the end of the book, Lestat is asleep under a house in New Orleans, and he does sleep a hundred years or so. He awakes in the next book, The Vampire Lestat, because of the music and sounds of the 80’s, especially of the little band that he joins (Satan’s Night Out?). Basically, Lestat becomes depressed and weary of life, and stops hunting, and curls up in the house surrounded by books, until he goes into the earth. I think they touch on this in the first movie, but don’t have him sleeping under the earth.

I was hoping you were going to be someone who’d read the book and seen the movie. I don’t want to see the movie until I get more feedback because it sounds like they’ve totally butchered the books.

Rather foolishly, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED pretends not to be a sequel to INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, ignoring the events of the first film. The continuity problem regardin Lestat arises because the film doesn’t even bother to attempt any kind of continuity. (A similar thing happened with SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, which studiously avoided any reference to MANHUNTER.)
