When the NHL granted a franchise to Anaheim and the team adopted a nickname from a Disney movie, you ought to have seen this coming!! (G, D, and R)
I definetly want a hat.
BTW, Polycarp, I think the Toronto Raptors are named after “Jurassic Park”.
The minor leagues are born for goofy nicknames. Having been a longtime reader of the transactions wire on the sports page, I have been entertained by such teams as the Macon Whoopee and the Rochester Skeeters.
Somewhere in California are the Mudville Nine, though whether Sean Casey ever played for them I do not know!
Note Mayor Chavez’s lack of a sense of humor:
If I lived in Albuquerque, that would’ve cost him my vote; I can’t stand humorless people, much less politicians.
Coolest. Team. Ever.
I want a hat as well. At the same time the Las Vegas team is known now as the 51’s, a reference to Area 51 and they have an alien as a mascott.
Slee
He can do whatever he wants, for he…is the MAYOR OF ALBUQUERQUE!
That would be Stockton.
