Invincible is my new favorite comic

I started reading it about three weeks ago, and think it’s fantastic. Kirkman’s writing is superb. I love how the early issues parodied the superhero genre, but wasn’t so over the top to become complete satire. It’s more upbeat than just about anything Marvel and DC are putting out now.

I’m up to the early 50’s and Mark is getting a little emo, which is annoying, but the book is still a fun read.

Robert Kirkman may be my favorite current writer. I’ve read the first 20-some odd issues of The Walking Dead, and am just as impressed with the writing.

Invincible is pretty amazing. Violent but amazing!

I like it, but I’m starting to feel some fatigue for it.

As for it being more upbeat - in some ways, yes; in some ways, no. Mark’s got a deeply personal tragedy in his recent past (what with his Dad going rogue) and it is a very, very bloody comic. Kirkman does dismemberment better than Geoff Johns.

Invincible started out strong and has stayed that way even as it changes. Mark has matured in a believable way. From high school kid to war veteran. At the same time Kirkman has built a rich world/universe to set the stories in. It’s one of the few titles I still buy at this point.
