io9's fall sci-fi guide

Lots of interesting shows debuting.

Hopeful: **Agents of Shield **by Whedon looks entertaining (and another vehicle for Whedon to employee his pals, which I don’t mind a bit), and I liked the trailer for Sleepy Hollow.

Doubtful: Another version of Dracula? Pass. Kripke thinks he can turn around Revolution? No thanks. Supernatural is still limping along? Nah. And as much as I like Karl Urban, **Almost Human **doesn’t look worth a shot.

Intriguing: Maybe it’s hazy memories of the original, but **The Tomorrow People **will be worth a try despite it being cliche (Evil government conspiracy for dinner! Again?). If they can avoid it being another CW whine-fest (I’m young, beautiful and powerful - life’s so hard!). Of course, big red flag on the trailer for showing the messiah substitute being bullied, because ya know, two guysfrom a Calvin Klein ad are bound to be drawn into conflict. Is there even a Pearle Vision Center in the CWverse? I can’t recall anyone wearing glasses except as props.

I will watch Karl Urban’s show because:

  1. He’s in Lord of the Rings.

  2. He’s in Star Trek and actually looks like he doesn’t care in that movie, which I respect.

  3. Riddick. He’s in Riddick and says the best line in the history of all movies. You have to see the line within the movie. “He’s the Holy Half-Dead who has seen the Underverse and returned with powers you can’t imagine”

I love Karl Urban and shall watch all he’s in. Even Pathfinder
