IP Config problem

My computer won’t connect to the internet. It is hardwired through the router. When I do cmd then ipconfig I get:

IP address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet mask: 0.0.0.0

I am fairly sure this is the reason it won’t connect. How do I get these to reset to (hopefully) allow me to connect to the internet?

Try “ipconfig /renew”

If this doesn’t work, open the Network->TCP/IP->properties window and set your computer to get it’s IP address from the network (should be something like a radio-button saying “Use DHCP to acquire network address”, or some similar wording.)
Set your router to be the DHCP and DNS server.

Or, in the same window, actually give it an address manually…

This is the second thread you’ve started on this “can’t connect to the Internet” topic and the second time I’m going to say…

Have you tried bypassing the router and connecting directly to the modem, to see if the problem lies in the router?
