Ipad backspace key occasionally crashing Safari browser

Recently I’ve noticed that if I tap the backspace key a bit too rapidly my browser (Safari) freezes. Searching for an Apple explanation hasn’t helped. Using iOS 8.1. Anyone?

Is this using backspace mapped to “Previous Page,” or in a text field?

If it’s the former, Safari may be trying to find and load prior pages more quickly than its buffers can handle.

No, in the text field.

Bug, then. Whether iOS or Safari or your device or what, I can’t say. It may be something on a handler level where the overall unit is trying to differentiate a control request (last page) from a text-editing one, but in any case I’d bet it’s beyond user fixability.

If it’s not something other users are encountering, it might be some subtle setting on your device or browser.

Not very helpful, but if no one here knows it might be worth some search time.

After some new searches, I found another user having my same experience.

Here it is.

The test page he created locks up Safari on my ipad. I reported it to Apple. Oh well.

Bug fixed by iOS update 8.1.1.

Thanks Apple!
