iPhone predictive text workaround

When I’m texting, and I want to text the word “the”, for some reason Auto-correction or Predictive Text always inserts the word “Theresa”.

I know I can Toggle off Auto-Correction and Predictive Text, but I like it and would rather not, I just want it to lose that one predictive prompt.

And I’m sure if I paid better attention, I could catch it as it comes up but I use my phone at work a lot and don’t usually have time to monitor my text that closely.

So, factual question, is there a way to make Predictive Text forget that one, embarrassing, prompt?

I’m on Android not iPhone but if I want to remove a troublesome word from the predictive text list, I just press and hold on that word and then a message pops up asking if I want to remove the word from the list.

I also don’t know iOS, but another tactic is to create a text replacement for that one word, where “the” will always map to “the”. Various sites seem to report this works. ( Settings > General > Keyboard > Text Replacement.)

I also found that there is purportedly an option to turn off inline predictive text. (Settings > General > Keyboard > Show Predictions Inline) The predictions still will show, but you’ll have to tap on them explicitly. I personally would enable that, as the spacebar is never an acceptable way to say I accept a prediction.

Thanks Big T - I tried the first one, I think that works. If It doesn’t Ill try “show predictions line”.
