Couple of days ago some entity dropped several items in my calendar, complete with alerts to annoy me. I also started receiving phone calls associated with these items/alerts. Further, they can’t be deleted. In all the years I’ve used iPhones I’ve never experienced anything like this. If anyone can provide insight/assistance I’d be most appreciative.
Some further details would be helpful. What sort of items, messages, alerts are you seeing?
I’d like to post a screenshot of my calendar, but SD won’t allow it. The items are all “reminders” to renew a subscription to McAfee. I’ve never used any of their products.
Make sure you are not subscribed to any calendars.
Bingo! Thanks.
So, how does it happen I got subscribed to an unknown calendar?
You could have installed an app that had “rider” software. For example, if you want to download the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, McAfee comes with it unless you uncheck the box for it before beginning your download. You really have to be careful these days because a lot of companies will try to rope you into installing their stuff if they can get away with it.
That doesn’t really happen in iOS.
You probably visited a website that showed a pop up for the calendar invite and then you just inadvertently tapped “OK” to subscribe to it.
Well, regardless of how it happened I appreciate pointing me in a direction to resolve the problem.
Hey, just because it hasn’t happened to you or me or anyone we know or anyone they know, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
…
Okay, that’s a pretty poor argument. LOL
Still, I wonder who screens all the 3rd apps and how often and how well? If a 3rd party comes to Apple and says, “this app does such and such, and we’ll pay you such and such to put it in your App Store”, how much oversight is there?
Thank ya!
