Does anyone know of a program that will find song lyrics that can be viewed on an iPod? I’ve used lyrics programs with WinAmp that function sort of like karaoke and would love to find something similar for iTunes (on XP) and ideally on an iPod video. Thanks.
By the way, if this should be in Café because it is (semi) music related or GD, I ask the mods to do with me as they will. But be gentle.
iTunes and recent iPods support a lyrics field in the song info.
If you open a song’s properties in iTunes and put something in under the lyrics tab, you can view the lyrics on the iPod by pushing the center button a few times while a song is playing, scrolling through FF/REW, song rating, and any artwork, until the lyrics screen appears.
Correct, you highlight the song and press command-I for “get info” if you’re using a Mac. There’s a field you can paste the lyrics into. You can usually find the lyrics by searching on google, in the format “name of song” lyrics. I’d like to see Itunes automatically find lyrics the way it does CD track names, but it doesn’t do that right now.
From what I understand, the rights to the lyrics are owned by a different legal entity than the song itself, and any related cover art. I suspect Apple would have to do a whole new round of negotiations to get a search like that built in.
Not to so that they aren’t doing it, but a company like apple doing it is very different than a bunch of fan sites doing it.
I thought it was already in the new version of iTunes? I’ll admit I don’t read the new features list closely, but I thought I read something about iTunes is now able to get lyrics with the last update. I have a bunch of lyrics that I made no effort to get - I assumed iTunes was getting them but it may be from my “sing that iTune” widget (Mac).
Yeah but what about us Windows weenies? Is there something that works on XP (and ultimately on the iPod itself) for those of us who were assimilated into the Windows collective?
Just switch to Samsung, and most of all your problems will be over; moreover, you’ll get a lot of added benefits. I-pods are one of the most over-rated products ever. Apparently, it’s because they “look cute.” But then we all bought I-macs because they “came in colors.” Like I care what color my computer is. It can be mauvre, for what I care, as long as it does what I want it to (note: I have no idea what mauvre is). Oh, and don’t forget: “Think different.” That is to say, don’t bother to think how your computer works. Einstein did the same thing, didn’t he? He let the Coca-Cola Company come up with the theory of relativity. After all, what did he have to care about? As long as his I-pod looked cute.
Generally, I have no beef with Apple, and its products. It’s just that they put out this image that they’re so “different” that you have to buy THEM. And everyone buys them. Go figure. I think a root beer company tried the same thing: “Buy our root beer so you’ll be different from everyone else.” Americans can be such idiots.
Sorry if this is a highjack, but the stupid time period limit made it impossible to find out what thread I was originally in. THAT has to go.
